     Garret Ackerman was born on 10 April 1818 at New York (His parents are born in NJ, acc. to 1880 census.)2,4,5 He (1) married Mathilda Westervelt on 28 May 1840.2,6 Garret Ackerman (2) married Jane Bush on 12 August 1843.2 Garret Ackerman (3) married Rachel Haring, daughter of Garret J Haring and Caroline Westervelt, on 18 February 1873.3,2 Garret Ackerman died on 4 June 1883 at Pascack, NJ.3,2,7 He was buried in Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood.7

They are next door to George Hartwick.8 The 1870 census lists Garret Ackerman at Washington Township, NJ, with Cornelius, Persilla, Henry, Martha, John and George.4 The 1880 census lists Garret Ackerman and Rachel at Washington Township, NJ, with two nephews Henry A Haring (18, b. NJ) and William Haring (12, b. NJ.)5
