     Noah was a business man, according to his wife in a letter written to John W. Vreeland.
     Mary was a teacher in Honolulu, Hawaii and got her Master's Degree at the University of Hawaii. Paul lived in Chicago, Cook, IL and worked at the La Salle St. office of Standard Oil Co. He did secretarial work.

     Mary Edith Brittain lived at 73 Findly Place, Vailsburg section of Newark, Essex, NJ. Sometime after her husband died, she moved to Ocean Grove NJ to live out her remaining years with her daughter, Edith Marie.
At the end of her life she was in Mercer Memorial Home, Atlantic City, Atlantic, NJ. Mary died of arteriosclerosis and chronic myocarditis. Name variation: Mary Edith Brittain.1 Married name: Vreeland.

H.C. McBride.) William Cox Britten died on 11 March 1916 at Bridgeport, CT. He was buried on 7 September 1916 in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Newark.1

     William was a trunk maker and resided at 119 Jefferson Street, Newark, NJ.
     At the age of 15 1/2 on 23 June 1864, he enlisted into the army as a private in Company G, 37th Regiment in the New Jersey Volunteer Infantry for 100 days from Newark, NJ. William served as a drummer. He was discharged at Trenton, NJ 1 October 1864. This was Captain William J. Roberts' Company. He also served in the 4th Battery Light Artillery from12 August 1864 to 17 June 1865 as a bugler. This was Captain Charles R.Doane's Company and was finally discharged in Richmond Virginia.
When William applied for his War Pension on 24 October 1910, he listed his occupation as a melter - refiner
Some of William's war memorabilia, including his bugle, hat and jacket buttons are at the home of Patricia Vreeland Boyle.
     William returned to Newark to live and work. Five years after his discharge he married Alice, who died less than a year later. William never married again. He stayed in Newark until 1872, then moved to Providence, RI. He resided in Providence until 1912, when he moved to Bridgeport, CT. He stayed there at 163 Harriet Street until his death in 1916.
