     Thomas Swartwout was born circa 1607 at Groningen, The Netherlands.² He (1) married Arijaantje Simons.² (Banns on 21 March 1630 at Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He was 23 y.o, from Groningen; she was 22 y.o., from Amsterdam; her witness was her father Sijmon Sijmons (and maybe her mother as well, but hard to read, his witness is also not decipherable.)²) Thomas Swartwout (2) married Hendrikje Barentsz.³ (Banns on 10 May 1631 at Amsterdam. He was widower of Ariaantje Sijmons, she was 20 y.o; her witness was her father Baerent V?)³

     Willard was a director of the Minisink Valley Historical Society.¹

     Pennina Swayze married Abraham Axford Jr., son of Abraham Axford and Sarah Beavers.¹

     Abraham Axford Jr. and Pennina lived in 1831 at Oakland County, MI.² Name variation: Pernina Swayze.³ Married name: Axford.

     Catherine Sweeney was born in 1800 at Ireland.¹ She married Michael Delany.¹ Catherine Sweeney died in 1866 at Newburgh, NY.¹ She was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Newburgh.¹

     Margaret Sweeney was born in 1904 at New York.² She married Daniel C Engel, son of John Engel and Mathilda H Gehrels.^3,4 Margaret Sweeney died on 20 October 1977.⁵

     Margaret Sweeney and Daniel had two children, Daniel C. (b. 1929) and Robert (b. 1932). Daniel C. died in a car accident in 1949.^6,5 The 1930 census lists Daniel C Engel and Margaret at 243 Passaic Street at Hackensack (ED 116), Bergen County, NJ, with their son Daniel C. Jr., and his sister Augusta.²

     Helen Sweet was born on 29 November 1848 at Burton, MI.¹ She married Henry Clarke Sanford, son of Henry Clarke Sanford and Mary H DeWitt, on 31 December 1872.^1,2

This date is not listed in the NYDRC book.)^1,2,12,6 Apollonia Cornelis Swits died after 1712/13.²

     She was listed in the membership list of the NYDC on 3 Dec 1672 as "Appolonia Cornelis, wife of Jan Thomaszen."¹³ Married name: Eckerson.

     Claas Swits was born circa 1640 (16 yrs in 1656.)² He died in September 1663 at Schenectady, NY.¹

Elsie Tjarcx, wife of Phillip Hendricxsz, brewer, who shot Claes Cornelisse Swits; Jan Labatie, as husband and guardian of Jillissie Claesz, his wife, being full aunt of the late Claes Cornelissz Swits, and Isaack Cornelisz Swits, young man aged 20 years, brother of said Claes Cornelissz Swits, dec'd; Adriaentie Cornelis Swits, mother of said Claes Cornelissz, dec'd; Myndert Harmensz and Fransois Harmensz, nephews of the same.¹

     Claes Cornelis Swits was born circa 1600 at Zeeland, The Netherlands.¹ He died on 28 August 1641 (killed by an Indian.)¹

     He was a wheelright. He signed a contract with the West India Company in Amsterdam on 8 Jan 1630. He was also known as Rademaker or Raemaker (which means wheelright)

     Cornelis Swits was born in 1651 (4 yrs old in 1656.)^3,4 He was baptized on 9 July 1651 at New York City (DRC.)^5,6 He married Jannetje DeWitt, daughter of Tjerck Claessen DeWitt and Barbara Andriessen.¹

     Cornelis Claesen Swits was born circa 1620 at Zeeland, The Netherlands.² He was baptized at Schouwen.³ He married Ariantje Trommels, daughter of Cornelis Trommel and Aegtje Willemsdr, (Cornelis Claese Swits and Ariaentje Cornelissen.)^1,4,5 Cornelis Claesen Swits died on 15 October 1655 at New Amsterdam (killed by Indians.)^2,6

     Cornells Claessen Swits with his wife Ariaentje Cornelis Trommels from Renferskerke appoint and empower, the Honorable Willem Kieft, late director general of New Netherland, to recover their property from Stoffel Bartolomeusz Swartbeck, their guardian residing at Brouwershaven:
First, on behalf of the above named Ariaentje Cornells Trommels to demand the transfer of some land situated in Zealand, belonging to her, Adrlaentje Cornells, by the will of her aunt
Marritje Leenders Buys.
Second, to collect all that is due the aforesaid Cornells Claessen Swits from his guardian, the said Stoffel Bartolomeusz Swartbec.
Signed by the principals in the presence of Jan Vienje and Philip Dormier, as witnesses invited hereto, the 14th of August Anno 1647 in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland.

28 Nov 1656. Aryaentie Corn., widow of Corn. Claesz Swits, intends to marry Albert Leendersz, ym. Egbert Wouters and Harme Smeeman appointed guardians of the six minors: Claes, 16 yrs old, Isack, 13 yrs old, Jacob, 11 yrs old, Apolonie, 8 yrs, Cornelis, 4 yrs, Cornelia 1 yr.⁹
     While Jellisje is listed as aunt of Cornelis' sons Claes and Isaac, her father is Claes Jansen, acc to Harmen Mynderts will. More research is needed. Her surname Schouw at the first marriage is prob. from Schouwen, Zeeland, even though she is listed as from Zierikzee in the will (which is on the island of Schouwen.)^10,11 Name variation: Cornelis Claeszen Switser.¹² Name variation: Cornelius Claessen Swits.¹³

     Gezina Swits was baptized on 3 May 1713 at Schenectady, NY, (DRC.)¹ She married Daniel De Graaf, son of Jesse De Graaf and Aeltje Hennion, on 26 June 1735 at Schenectady, NY, (DRC.)² Gezina Swits died on 22 January 1801.³

     Gezina Swits and Daniel had four more children, all bp. in Schenectady DRC:
1. Jesse, bp. Jul 1739 (#1297); d. 25 Sep 1740
2. Gezina, bp. 6 Sep 1741 (#1396); d. bef. Nov 1747

     Isac Swits was born circa 1642 (13 yrs in 1656.)² He was baptized on 5 October 1642 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Mr. Willem Kieft, Commandeur; D. Everardus Bogardus; Cornelis Van Tienhoven, Secretary; Jan Janszen Dam, Rachel de Foreest, Marritje Lievens; father Cornelis Claeszen (swiss), mother Ariaentie.)³ He married Susanna Groot, daughter of Symon Symonse Groot and Rebecca Du Trieux, (He was Isaac Swits, alias Kleyn Isaack, son of Cornelis; she Susanna Groot, dau. of Simon.)^4,5,6

     Isac Swits made a will on 1 April 1701. It was proved at Albany 4 Oct 1707. He was Isaac Switz (Jacob on p.451), residing at Schenectady. Names wife Susanah Groot (Grant on p.451); children eldest son Cornelius, Simon (Susanah on p.451), Abraham, Ariantie, Rebecca, Isaac, Jacob, and Nicholas Isaacs. I appoint Captain Evert Byvanck (Bancker on p.451) and my eldest son, Cornelius Isaacs, guardians of my children. Witnesses: Anthony Van Schayck, Anthony Koster, and Barent Lytin (Rut Goysler on p.451.)⁴

     Jacob Swits was born in 1645 (11 in 1656.)^1,3 He was baptized on 5 February 1645 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Hendrick Pieterszen, Pieter Colette, and Heyltie Jeuraiens; father Cornelis Claeszen, mother not listed.)⁴ He died in 1683.¹

     Eva Switzelaar was from Germany and living in Ulster County, acc. to her marriage certificate.¹ She married Philippus Folant on 6 October 1724 at Kingston, NY, (DRC) (1724 06 Oct; Philippus Volland, jm; Eva Switselaar, jd, both born Germany, both liv Dutchess Co.)^1,2

     Eva Switzelaar and Philippus had at least two more children, bp. Kingston DRC:
1. Elisabeth, bp. 29 Oct 1727; sp. Louwerens Hendriksz and Reyina Halm; parents Philippus Volland and Eva Switselaar

     Siek Sybesma was born on 21 October 1881 at Wymbritseradeel, Friesland, The Netherlands.^3,1 He married Chattie Dykstra, daughter of Tjalling Dijkstra and Antje Bouma, in 1905.^1,4

     The 1910 census lists Samuel Sybesma and Chattie at 9 Highland Ave at Midland Park Borough, Bergen County, NJ, with three children: William (4), Charles (2) and Anna (4 mo), all born in NJ.⁴ Samuel and William were contractors & masons. From 1931 there is the firm William Sybesma & Sons at William Sybesma & Sons, 237 Erie Ave, Midland Park, NJ.^4,1,5,6 The 1920 census lists Samuel Sybesma and Chattie at Midland Park, Bergen County, NJ, with four children all born in NJ: William (17 yr), Charles (11 yr), Anna (9 yr), Bertha (7 yr.)¹ Samuel Sybesma and Chattie lived in 1927 at 1 Aquaduct Ave at Midland Park, Bergen County, NJ.⁵ Name variation: Siek Sybesma.³

     William R. Sybesma was born on 27 February 1855 at Doniawerstal, Friesland, The Netherlands.^1,2 He married Botje Attema on 15 May 1880 at Wymbritseradeel, Friesland, The Netherlands.^3,1

     William R. Sybesma and Botje had nine children born in Wymbritseradeel, Friesland, The Netherlands: Aukje (1880 #A265, died 1880 #203)), Siek (1881 #A301), Aukje (1883 #A 364), Marie (1885 #A 18), Trijntje (1886 #A 287), Reitze (1888 #A 31, died 1888 #A 83), Reitze (1889 #A 93), Wytske (1890 #A 376) and Eelkje (1892 #A 37).⁴ Will Sybema and Boltje Sybema immigrated on 10 May 1892 on the Maasdam, from Rotterdam, arriving in New York on 10 May 1892, with 7 children: Siek (10), Aukje (8), Marie (7), Trietje (5), Bertje (2), Witske (1) and Eeltje (9 mo). They were going to Paterson, NJ.⁵ The 1900 census lists William R. Sybesma and Bertha S. at (#251) at Midland Park Borough, Bergen County, NJ, with seven children: Samuel W. (Oct 1881), Aggie (Nov 1883), Trina (Oct 1886), Richard (Jun 1889), Alice (Feb 1892), all born in Holland, and Winnie (Jul 1894) and Mary (Jul 1898) both born in NJ.¹ William R. Sybesma and Samuel Sybesma were Samuel and William were contractors & masons. From 1931 there is the firm William Sybesma & Sons at William Sybesma & Sons, 237 Erie Ave, Midland Park, NJ, at 237 Erie Ave, Midland Park, NJ.^6,7,8,9 His parents were Reitze Pieters Sybesma and Aukjen Alberts Sietsma.²
