Gerrit Hans1
M
Father | Hanse Van Norstrand2 |
Mother | Jannecke Garretse Van Loon3 d. b 1679 |
Gerrit Hans married Jannetje Remsen, daughter of Rem Jansen Vanderbeck and Jannetje Rapalje, on 20 April 1685 at Flatbush, NY, (DRC) (Gerrit Hanz to Janetje Rems.)4,5,1
Family | Jannetje Remsen |
Gerrit Hans and Jannetje had nine children; two are bp. in Brooklyn, seven are mentioned in the will
1. Hans (bp. 26 Jun 1687; parents Gerrit Hansen and Jannitje Remsen; sp. Jan Remsen and Kathalyntje Hansen; has a son Gerrit)
2. Joris (bp. 9 Dec 1694; parents Gerret Hansen and Jannitje Remsen; sp. Joris Remsen and Femmitje Joris; not listed in the will)
3. Rem (m. Aeltje (Montfoort); they have at least one son, Pieter (bp. 13 Feb 1715, Jamaica; parents Rem Van Noorstrant and Aeltie Van Noorstrant; sp. Pieter Monfoort and Marrytie)
In addition John, Peter, Daniel and Geritt (unmarried), Janettie Vanderveer, and Antye Van Dyn are listed in the will; Konight has another Joris (which would make ten children.6,7,8,9 Gerrit Hans made a will on 5 June 1724. It was proved 22 Feb 1742. He was Garrett Hansen Noorstrandt, of Flathush, in Kings County. Names wife Jannettie; children Hans (eldest, has a son Gerrit), Rem, John, Peter, Daniel and Geritt (unmarried), Janettie Vanderveer, and Antye Van Dyn. Sons to be executors. Witnesses: Peter Montfoort, Peter Montfoort, Jr., and Peter Berrien.8,3
There is some confusion about the order of the sons: BC-Families has Jan (son of Jenneke), b. 1644, m. (1) to Maritje Adriaens, and (2) to Willempje Van Boerum; but also has Jan (son of Reymerigh, no dates) m. to Marietje. The will lists Gerrit (m. 1685, so b. bef. 1665), Peter (does not marry, and died in 1692), and Jan (m. 1695 (so b. bef. 1675) together; and Volckert (m. in 1681, so b. bef. 1661) separately. It is unclear in the will, whether Volkert is a son of the first or of the second marriage, he gets two cows, as a remembrance of his mother, and nothing else; the bulk of the estate goes to the sons Gerrit, Peter, and John (youngest son)
Wikitree has two different sons Jan and John, each with one marriage, see there for more information.2,3,10 Name variation: Gerret Hansen Van Nostrand.4,9
