     Abraham Groot was baptized on 26 January 1722/23 at Schenectady, NY, (DRC.)¹ He married Rachel De Graaf, daughter of Jesse De Graaf and Aeltje Hennion, on 4 April 1752.²

     Abraham Groot and Rachel had four children:
1. Dirk, bp. 29 Apr 1753; d. 15 Mar 1811
2. Jesse, bp. 29 Apr 1755
3. Cornelis, bp. 5 Nov 1758
4. Elisabeth, bp. 21 Sep 1766.²

     Hester Groot was born on 9 December 1742.¹ She married Hester Groot, (9 Dec 1742-19 Apr 1822), daughter of Abraham Groot, Cornelis Mabie, son of Jacob Mabie and Catharina Vrooman, on 19 November 1767.¹ Hester Groot was baptized on 19 April 1822.¹

     Her father was Abraham Groot.¹ Married name: Mabie.

     Jannetje Groot was baptized on 17 February 1745.¹ She married Johannes Peek, son of Lowijs Peek and Jannetje Van Antwerpen, on 21 March 1768.¹

     Her parents were Abraham Groot and Willempie Dunbar.¹

     Isaac Swits made a will on 1 Apr 1701; it was proved 4 Oct. 1707. Mentions wife and eight children: Cornelius (eldest), Susanah, Abraham, Ariantie, Rebecca, Isaac, Jacob, and Nicholas Isaacs. (Wife listed as Susanna Grant, but see Errata at the beginning). Captain Evert Bancker and my eldest son Cornelius Isaacs, to be guardians of my childien. Witnesses: Anthony Van Schayck, Anthony Koster, and Rut Goysler.⁵ Married name: Swits.

     Symon Groot married Geertruy Rinkhout, daughter of Jan Rinkhout of Albany.²

     Lula Ellen Grose was born on 24 May 1895 at Cabell County, WV.¹ She married Earl G Townsend, son of Isaac Norris Townsend and Polly Ann Dill, on 18 June 1911 at WV.¹ Lula Ellen Grose died on 19 July 1961 at WV.¹

     Anna Gross was born in September 1848 at Hanover, Germany.^1,2 She married Claus Henry Lemmerman on 15 August 1872 at Hackensack, NJ, (German Lutheran Church.)^3,4,5 Anna Gross died in 1928.⁶ She and Henry Lemmerman were buried in Maple Grove Park Cemetery in Hackensack.^7,6

     The 1900 census lists Henry Lemmerman and Wilhelmina, with two children, both b. NY: Louisa H (18, b. Dec 1881) and Hermann (15, b. Jan 1885); his mother-in-law Lucy Gross (79, b. Mar 1821, Germany, wid., 8 children, 7 living); Theresa Karock (17, b May 1883, Germany, servant, imm 1893), and William Kaeshbe (37, b. Dec 1862, Germany, servant, imm. 1880, alien). Henry is 51, b. Jun 1848, rubber manufacturer, imm 1865); Wilhelmina is 51, b. Sep 1848, Germany, imm. unclear. They were married 28 yrs, two children, both living.⁵ The 1905 census lists Henry Lemmerman and Anna W at Hasbrouck Heights, Bergen County, NJ, with Hermann Lemmerman (20, b. Dec 1884, NY, insurance clerk), and Anna L. Gross (84, b. Mar 1821, Germany, wid., 40? yrs in US); Julia Ruane (20, b. Jan 1883, Ireland, house servant, 1y in US) and William Kasahuba (42, b. Dec 1862, Germany, coachman, 16y in US, alien). Henry was 56, b. Jun 1848, Germany, rubber manufacturer; Anna W was 56, b. Sep 1848, Germany.² Name variation: Anna Wilhelmina Gross.⁴ Married name: Lemmerman.²

     Christian F Gross was born in 1814 at Hanover, Germany.¹ He married Anna L.¹ Christian F Gross died on 11 October 1886 at Corona (Lodi Twp), NJ, (card file has year only.)^2,3

     The 1860 census lists Frederick Gross and Anna L at New Barbadoes Township, Bergen County, NJ, with, all b. Hanover, except Henry: Charles Gross (40, master tailor, listed first), Charles Gross (16, butcher), Eliza Gross (14), Anna Sedorss (40), Anna Gross (12), Mary Gross (7), Collinda Gross (5), and Henry Gross (1y 2m, b. NJ). Frederick is 46, b. Hanover, farmer; Anna is 40, b. Hanover.⁴ The 1880 census lists Christian F Gross and Anna L at Hackensack Village, Bergen County, NJ, with three children: Solinda (26, b. Hanover, at home), Henry (21, b. NJ, huckster), and Fredrick (18, b. NJ, huckster). Christian is 66, b. Hanover, huckster; Anna is 61, b Hanover.¹

     Lawrence Joseph Gross was born on 10 April 1904 at Paterson, NJ. He married Angeline King, daughter of William Henry King and Mary Ellen Higgins, on 2 September 1929 at Paterson, NJ, (St. Mary's RC Church.)¹ Lawrence Joseph Gross died on 22 January 1955 at Paterson, NJ. He was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa Borough.¹

     He attended Lady of Lourdes school and church. He was a member of the Pompton Lakes Chamber of Commerce. He helped to organize the Totowa Borough Democratic Club and ran for Borough Council. He was involved with the Holy Name Society of St. James Church and was also a Guard of Honor.¹ Lawrence Joseph Gross and Angeline lived at 76 Lewis Place at Totowa Borough, NJ.¹ Lawrence Joseph Gross was before 1950 a heating and plumbing foreman for the Frank McBride Company.¹
     She and her husband were owners of Laran's Furniture Store in Pompton Lakes, NJ.¹

     Mary Gross married William Knapp, son of Libbeus Knapp and Rachel Storms, on 1 January 1817.¹
