Richard was a successful farmer. The family lived in a log house on Landon Hill in the town of Chester, raised many crops and lived well.¹ Richard Duel and Clarinda had ten children: Jonathan, Martin William (b. 22 Aug 1804, d. 25 Apr 1882), Liva (b. 29 Jan 1807, d. 13 Sep 1889), Jacob N. (b. 7 Dec 1808, d.10 Oct. 1855), Warren Higley, Hersila (b. 9 Jul 1812), Sylvia M. (b. 26 Sep 1814), Patty Alenia (b. 15 Aug 1817), Charles Seba (b. 15 Aug 1820), Lydia (b. 10 Apr 1823, d. 14 Oct 1882).¹
