US.)1 The 1900 census lists Herman A Teske and Annie at Little Ferry (Lodi Township), NJ, with three children, all b. NJ: John (Apr. 1893), Herman (Mar 1896), and Annie (Apr 1898, NJ). They were married 8 years; three children, all living. The father immigrated in 1880, and was a farmer. The father probably also served from 1 Nov 1887 to 31 Jan 1891 (although the age is two years off.)3,5 The 1905 census lists Herman A Teske and Annie at 279 Bergenline Ave at Union, Hudson County, NJ, with four children, all b. NJ: John (Apr. 1893), Herman, Jr. (Mar 1895), Annie (Apr 1899), and Lizzie (Feb 1904). He was a hotel keeper. He had been in the US for 29 yrs and was naturalized.6 The 1920 census lists Herman A Teske and Annie at Eckel Road at Little Ferry Borough, NJ, with six children, all b. NJ: John (27, carpenter), Herman (23, carpenter), Anna (21), Lizzie (18), K? (12), and Albert (10). They were indexed as Taska.7 Her parents were born in Germany.7 Married name: Annie Teske.3

Above them are listed Maria Ekel (22, Bringhausen), Anna Dorothea Muller (36, Willersdorf), Maria Elizabeth Muller (14, Willersdorf), Hartmann Zinn (16, Willersdorf), and Heinrich Ekel (14, Willersdorf.)4,5,6 There are many inconsistencies in the ages, but Henry was listed as born Willershausen when he married, and his parents were listed then as well. A Tobias Eckel imm. in 1858, and shows up in the 1860 census in California as a miner, he must have gone back to get his family.7,5,6 The 1880 census lists Tobias Eckel and Anna at Lodi Township, Bergen County, NJ, with three children: John (23, b. Hesse-Cassel, farm laborer), Katy (15, seamstress, b. Hesse-Cassel, seamstress), and Anna (13, b. NJ, at school); and two boarders: Conrad Rak (38, b. Hesse-Cassel, farmlaborer) and James Dicker (12, b. NJ, parents b. Germany). Tobias is 56, b. Hesse-Cassel, farmer; Anna is 57, b. Hesse-Cassel, keeps house.3
