William is at the previous page.5 William J Demarest was a 1st Lieutenant in Company C, 22 Regiment NJ. In 1860 he was a carpenter; in 1880 a butcher; and in 1900 an insurance agent.1,2,3,5,6 The 1880 census lists William J Demarest and Leah at Harrington Township, Bergen County, NJ, with three sons: Henry B (24, b. NY), John J (21, b. NJ), and Albert B (10, b. NJ.)6 The 1900 census lists William J Demarest and Leah at Harrington Township, NJ.3 His parents were John C. Demarest and Isabella Christie.7
