     Isabella Gardner was born on 22 August 1738 at Belfast, Ireland.¹ She died on 17 December 1738 at Belfast.¹

     James Gardner was born on 30 October 1739 at Belfast, Ireland.¹ He died on 20 September 1741 on the passage to America.¹

     Joniah Gardner Sr was born circa 1752 at New Jersey.¹ He died circa 1817 at Fleming County, KY, (maybe.)¹

     From 1987 Research in New Jersey by Wallace Gardner and Lora Ashby: they stated in a letter to me 16 May 1990 that during the Revolutionary War Joniah was a 'gun runner'. They supply war records showing payment in Continental and Specie (with interest) for carting to 29th Feby. last, and several other dates. He is listed as a private, Captain Carter's Company, Eastern Regiment, Morris County Militia and was on the rolls 7 May 1778 with the names of Janiah, Jeniah and Geniah Gardner. In a list of marriage licenses given in The Genealogical Magazineof New Jersey, October, 1943 (Vol. 18 No. 4) there is a Jeniah (or Jeriah) Gardner and Ace Parsel dated September 1 1774; however, Wallace and Lora are not sure if this is Joniah, Sr. (Various books of Bergen County History and tax records of this era list families of the surname Parsel with variations in spelling.)
     Janiah Gardner is included in the August, 1786 Tax List of Ratablesfor Saddle River Township, Bergen County, New Jersey. He is shown with 34 acres of improved Land valued at 5 Pounds with a total tax of 5 shillings. (There are previous Jeniah listings in Saddle River for the years 1784 and 1782 as shown in a compilation by T.L.C. Genealogy 'Bergen County, New Jersey
     Taxpayers 1777-1797' pg 167. Others of the surname Gardner/Gardiner/Gardenier listed are: Haramus, Johanes, Catherine, Elijah, Elisha and Thomas, but the Janiah/Jenish listing is the earliest. The years of record in this compilation for Saddle River are: 1778-1782, 1784, 1786, 1790-1793, and 1795-1797.)
     The next record of Joniah is the 1790 first Census, where we find him in Mt. Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania. Listed are: 1 male over 16; 5 males under 16 abd 3 females. Wallace Gardner believes that Joniah is the male over 16; Males under 16 are Aaron, Nicholas, Robert, Anthony and Charles; and females are Joniah's wife, Phoebe and Mary. He futher believes that Joniah's wife died on the journey to Fleming Co., Kentucky as there is no mention of her in Fleming County that he and Lora Ashby have found. (This theory must be in error. Son William was born in Kentucky; see 1850 and 1860 census reports.)
     Joniah lived on Locust Creek, Fleming Co., KY when the 1798 Tax List was prepared. He may have died between 1815 & 1817, as his last appearance on the tax list for Fleming County is 1815. Joniah's stock mark was a slit in the left ear and a hole in the right one (Book B, page 154, July 12, 1802, Fleming Co., KY). Joniah's birth date is estimated from census records for 1790 and 1810, and Revolutionary War service.
     From the Fleming County, Kentucky, Deed Book A-1 (1797 - 1801), page 36, 10 Sept 1798 Lewis Craig of Mason County sold to Joniah Gardiner of Fleming for 32 pounds, 10 shillings, 100 acres on the waters of Locust Creek, a branch of Licking. This 100 acres was bounded on the south by Robert Smith and James Winans, on the east John McCoy on north Larance (Lawrence) Triplett, and on the west by Samuel Pierce. Within the loines of a 30,000 acre survey of John Mosby, deceased, being a part of the fifth lot of said survey. Signed by Lewis Craig. No witnesses listed. Entered to record by Court 10, Sept 1798 acknowledged in court by Lewis Craig. Teste Joshua Stockton CFCPT.
     Joniah probably came to Fleming County about 1794 based upon the age of his son William, born in Fleming County (1850, 1860 census), making him one of the very early settlers.
     All his children had a note: see exhibit #1, but it unclear what that means.¹

     Joseph Elden Gardner was born on 12 April 1923 at Quenemo, Osage County, KS.¹

     Levi Gardner was born on 1 March 1792 at Irvington, NJ.¹ He married Cathrine Supenor, daughter of Christopher Supenor and Mary Polly Simonson, before 1818 at Irvington, NJ.¹ Levi Gardner died on 12 November 1846 at Irvington, NJ.¹

     Mabel Gardner (1) married Jesse Leon Paul.¹ Mabel Gardner (2) married Emery Dewitt Bennett, son of George H Bennett and Olive Leonora Sprague.²

     Married name: Mabel Gardner Paul.² Married name: Bennett.

     Margaret Gardner was born on 3 April 1761 at Lancaster County, PA.¹ She married John Hildebrand, son of Christian Hildebrand and Catharine Smalley, on 8 April 1780 at PA.¹ Margaret Gardner died on 27 January 1814.¹ She was buried in Union Cemetery in East Berlin.¹

     Married name: Hildebrand.

     Margaret Gardner was born on 1 June 1842.¹ She married Jacob D Ackerman.² Margaret Gardner died on 13 April 1931.^3,1 She was buried in Wyckoff Cemetery in Wyckoff.³

     The 1880 census lists Jacob D Ackerman and Margaret at New York City (ED 231), with his parents-in-law, both b. England: Richard (75) and Hannah (65). Jacob is 38, b. NJ, a truckman; Margaret is 37, b. NY.² The 1900 census lists Margaret Gardner at 17 Verona Place at Brooklyn (ED 395), NY, with her niece Hattie Gardner (24, b. Jan 1876, NY) and a servant Maggie Greany (21, b. Sep 1878, Ireland. Margaret is b. Jun 1842, NY, listed as married, married at age 39, no children, parents b.England.⁴ Married name: Ackerman.

     Mary Gardner married Daniel Wood.²

     Phoebe C Gardner was born on 1 December 1823 at Clinton (Irvington), Essex County, NJ.¹ She married Walter B Chandler, son of Daniel Meeker Chandler and Mary Ann, circa 1848 at Irvington, NJ.^1,2 Phoebe C Gardner died on 23 February 1907 at Irvington, NJ.¹ She was buried on 25 February 1907 in Clinton Cemetery in Irvington.¹

     Married name: Chandler.

     Thomas Gardner was born on 16 December 1773 (Bible record.)^1,2 He married Aaltje Bogert, daughter of Joost C Bogert and Marytje Alberts Zabriskie.^1,2 Thomas Gardner died on 17 June 1850 at Paramus, Bergen County, NJ, age 76 yr 6 mo 1 day.^1,2

     Thomas Gardner Sr. was born on 16 January 1746 at New York.^1,2 He married Jane Arther on 16 September 1772.^1,2 Thomas Gardner Sr. died on 29 December 1804 at 1 o'clock noon in the 59th year of his age.^1,2 He was buried in Trinity Churchyard, Mulligan's Vault.

     William Gardner died in 1787 at Morristown, Morris County, NJ.¹

     William was a freeholder; that is one who owned real estate. He was on the toll List, May 1776, for delegates from Morris County to the first New Jersey Constitutional Convention. Other Gardner men from Morris Town and/or Morris Township were ...miah, Christopher and Henry. There was also a Joseph Gardner from Hanover Township. By comparison, on the same date Henry Gardner in the same township had 124 acres valued at 15 pounds. Henry was possibly a brother with a large family. Christening records of his many children are in the register at the First Presbyterian Church, Morristown.
Earlier still, in the year 1752 the number of freeholders in Morris County is estimated at 450. Interesting names on a list for Morris Town are William Gardner, Jr. Samuel Sutton, Joseph Wood and Jonathan Wood.
On Jan 17, 1793 a list of principal freeholdres does not list
William but it does include Christopher in Pequanack, David in Hanover and Henry in Morris Townships.² William Gardner made a will on 25 March 1786 at Morristown, NJ. It was proved 18 June 1787 by sworn testimony of Daniel Brown and John Rose, witnesses. It does not mention a wife. Daughter Mary Wood to receive twelve pounds; Daughter Affe Norris to receive five pounds;
Son Christopher to receive ten pounds over and above equal share with other two sons. Sons Christopher, Jeniah and William Gardner equally share the remainder. Executors;Chrisopher Gardner and Daniel Wood. Witnesses: Daniel Brown, Abraham Ludlum and John Rose.³

     Rebeckah Garfield married Isaac Mixer, son of Isaac Mixer, on 10 January 1660/61.

     Her father came from England on the "Elizabeth" in 1634.¹ Married name: Mixer.

     George Abner Garland married Mary C. Edgerly, daughter of David Leighton Edgerly and Almira B Chamberlain.¹

     The Garland Genealogy has both George Abner and Georgianna Garland as children of George Madison Garland and Joan Moody; George Abner married Ida F. Babb in 1879, but this leaves plenty time for an earlier marriage, There is only one George Abner in the book.²

     Georgianna Garland married George W. Edgerly, son of David Leighton Edgerly and Almira B Chamberlain.¹

     John Garland married Susanna Ver Planck, daughter of Abram Isaacsen Ver Planck and Maria Vinge, on 20 April 1669 (NY Marriage License.)¹ John Garland died circa January 1674.²

     John Garland and Susanna had one more son is mentioned in John's will:
1. Matthias, b. c. 1672.¹ John Garland made a will on 15 July 1673. It was proved 26 Feb 1674. Mentions his wife Susannah; his son Sylvester; 2nd son Matthias; Gulian van Layer (sic = Van Waert), a son by my wife's former husband. Brother (in-law) Gulian Ver Planck and friend Francis Rumbout to be executors.²

     He had a daughter Susannah, who is mentioned in his father's will.¹

     Sodt Garland married Reverend James Anderson in February 1712/13.¹ Sodt Garland died on 24 December 1736.¹

     Sylvester Garland was born circa 1670.¹ He (1) married Soetje Vanderculen.² Sylvester Garland (2) married Ann Sebra, daughter of Clement Sebra and Jannetie Stephensen, on 3 July 1715 at New York City (DRC) (with license.)³ Sylvester Garland died before 19 June 1718.¹

     Sylvester Garland and Soetje had two more sons, Abraham and Silvester, who were mentioned in his will.² Sylvester Garland made a will on 7 October 1710. It was proved 19 June 1719. Mentions wife Anne; son Abraham; son Silvester; daughter Sodt Anderson; granddaughter Susannah, daughter of my son John; son-in-law James Cebron.
Exec: wife Anne Garland and son-in-law James Anderson.¹

     Martje De Garmoux was born circa 23 May 1686.¹ She married Barent Egbertse Metselaer, son of Egbert Teunesse Metselaer and Maritje Barente Bradt, on 26 August 1704 at Albany, NY.¹ Martje De Garmoux died circa 9 January 1724/25 at Albany, NY.¹

     Married name: Metselaer.

     Stephen C.F Garnett was born circa 1818.¹ He married Sarah Elizabeth Edgerly, daughter of David Leighton Edgerly and Olive Place, on 13 November 1870.¹ Stephen C.F Garnett died in 1894.¹

     Stephen C.F Garnett was a carpenter at East Boston, MA.¹ His parents were Joseph Garnett and Louisa.¹

     Abram Garrabrant was born on 11 September 1837.² He (1) married Cornelia Jane Vreeland, daughter of Elias Jacob Vreeland and Rachel Van Houten.¹ Abram Garrabrant (2) married Catherine Elizabeth Demarest.² Abram Garrabrant died on 20 November 1912.² He was buried in Community Church Cemetery in Bloomfield.³

     Abram Garrabrant lived in 1902 at Brookdale at Bloomfield, NJ.³

     Carrie Garrabrant married ? Phillips.¹

     Carrie Garrabrant lived in 1895 at Newark, Essex County, NJ.¹ Married name: Phillips.

     Cecelia Garrabrant was born on 3 June 1822.² She was baptized on 6 October 1822 at Second River, NJ, (DRC.)^3,2 She married John Oliver Burnett on 4 May 1844.^3,2 Cecelia Garrabrant died in January 1909 at Hillsboro, Montgomery County, IL.

     The first two children were born in Union Twp, and the third in Springfield Twp, both Essex County, NJ (but both are now in Union County). Between 1855 and 1864 apparently moved to Hillsboro, IL. Both parents, and the two youngest children died there. George died in California. Married name: Burnett.

     David Garrabrant was born in 1838 at New Jersey. He died on 18 February 1864 at Bloomfield, NJ, at age 24 (indexed as Ganabrant.)¹

     Jesse Garrabrant was baptized on 5 January 1826 at Second River, NJ, (DRC.)² He married Mary Ann Post, daughter of Abraham Post and Anne Garrabrant(z).

     Jesse Garrabrant lived in 1840 at Belleville, Essex County, NJ. He was in 1860 a butcher at Belleville, NJ.³
