     Thomas T Banta was born on 12 November 1815.2 He married Ellen Tuers, daughter of Lawrence Toers and Ann (Hannah) Ackerman, on 11 April 1835 at Paramus, Bergen County, NJ.2 Thomas T Banta died on 18 May 1901 at Ridgewood, NJ. He was buried in May 1901 in Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood.2

He was a farmer living on his ancestral farm at Hillsdale, Bergen County, NJ.3 The 1880 census lists Thomas T Banta and Ellen, with their sons John Wilber and Aaron, and his mother-in-law Ann (Hannah) Ackerman (age 80). Aaron's age is listed as 27.4 The 1895 census lists Thomas T Banta and Ellen at Borough of Woodcliff at Washington Twp, Bergen County, NJ. Name variation: Thomas Samuel Banta.5
