Surname indexed as Schmidt.6 The 1910 census lists Anthony J Schmitt and Hildegard at 91 First Avenue at Manhattan Ward 17), NY, with their son Frank (23, b. NY, glassworker fancy goods) and daughter Caroline Caroline (18, b. NY, sales lady dept. store). Anthony was 48, b. Germany, imm. 1881, was naturalized, he was a glassworker of fancy goods; Hildegard was 46, b. Germany, imm. 1882, 2 children, 2 living; they were married 24 years.4 The 1920 census listed Hilda Schmitt in Frank J Schmitt's household at 27 Orchard Street at Ridgefield Park, NJ.2 The 1930 census lists Hilda Schmitt at 27 Orchard Street at Ridgefield Park, NJ, with her son Frank (43, b. NY, war cripple), her son-in-law and daughter Julius G (43, b. NY, father b. France, mother b. NY, clerk for the railroad) and Caroline K. Schmitt (38, b. NY, parents b. Germany), and two granddaughters, both b. NJ: Florence H. (17) and Clementine (15.)5 Married name: Schmitt. Name variation: Hildegard Schmitt (indexed as Schmidt.)4 Name variation: Annie Schmitt.6
