Adrian Wentink1

     Adrian Wentink was born on 15 January 1846 at Ouddorp, Zuid Holland, The Netherlands.1,2,3,4 He married Neeltje Pikaar in 1869.1,2 Adrian Wentink died on 24 March 1927 at Paterson, NJ.3 He was buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.3

     Adrian Wentink immigrated in 1867.2 He was naturalized on 4 November 1872 at Passaic County Court.5,6 The 1880 census lists Adrian Wentink and Nellie at Paterson (ED 149), Passaic County, NJ, with four daughters, all b. NJ: Jane (11, worker in silk mill), Lena (7), Nellie (2), and Gertha (4 mo). Adrian is 34, a brick mason; Nelly is 30, both b. Holland.7 The 1900 census lists Adrian Wentink and Nellie at 10 N. Straight Street at Paterson (ward 1), Passaic County, NJ, with eight children, all b. NJ: Jennie (Apr 1874, silkworker), Lena (Oct 1875), Nellie (Oct 1877), Gertie (Feb 1881, silkworker, year should 1880), Francis (Dec 1883, silkworker), Adrian (May 1885), Leonard (May 1889), and Frank (Oct 1893). Adrian is b. Jan 1846, a mason; Nelly is b. Mar 1850, both b. Holland; they were married 31 yrs, Nellie had 12 children, 8 living; they immigrated in 1866-67; they were in the US for 33 years. The kids are on the next page.2 The 1910 census lists Adrian Wentink at 10 N. Straight Street at Paterson (ward 1), NJ, with four children, all b. NJ: Adrian (25, bookkeeper at a bank), Leonard (20, bank clerk), Frank (16, housepainter), and Lena (34, housekeeper). Adrian was 64, widowed, mason. He imm. in 1865 and was naturalized.8
     In 1910, Adrian is a widower; in 1915 he is listed as married, but no wife listed; in 1920 he is a widower again.
     In 1912 Adrian and Louise Wentink arrive in NY (no doubt after a trip home) on the SS Rotterdam. They left Rotterdam op 5 Oct 1912, but the departurelist does not list Louise, just has '2' after Adrianus. The immigrationlist has Louise Wentink; they were citizens, he was 66, she was 51. They go to 10 N. Straight Street, Paterson, NJ. Adrian was naturalized in Passaic County on 4 Nov 1872.9,10 The 1915 census lists Adrian Wentink at 10 N. Straight Street at Paterson (ward 1), NJ, with three children, all b. NJ: Leonard (May 1889, bank clerk), Frank (Oct 1894, housepainter), and Lena (Oct 1872, dressmaker). Adrian was b. Jan 1846, brick mason. Adrian and Leonard are listed as married.11 The 1920 census lists Adrian Wentink at 10 N. Straight Street at Paterson (ward 1), NJ, with Frank (26, machinist automobile), and Lena (47, no occupation). Adrian was 74, widowed, no occupation. Frank is listed as a boarder, Lena as housekeeper.12 His parents were Frans Wentink and Susannetje Last.4
