     He came to New Netherland in 1649 with his family. He took the oath of allegiance in 1687 as "Willem Jacobs Van Boerum," 38 yrs in country.^1,4,5 William Jacobse Van Boerum and Geertje had another daughter Hillegont.^2,3 William Jacobse Van Boerum made a will on 1 October 1687. It was proved 3 Oct 1688. He mentions his wife Geertje Hendrickse and four children: Hendrick (the eldest), Geertruy, Jacob, and Hillsgont; also his daughter's daughter Gerrittie Gerritse. Witnesses: Garrit Dorlant and John Barentse Blom.³

     Barent Van Borsum was a glazier. He registered as 'poorter' in Amsterdam on 26 Jul 1639.^2,4

     Cornelis Van Borsum was baptized on 5 October 1642 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Willem Kieft, Jan Elpenbeen and wife Marritje Thymens; father Egbert van Borsum, mother not listed.)^1,3,4 He married Sarah Roeloffse, daughter of Roelof Jansen and Anneke Jans, on 1 September 1669 at New York City (DRC) (He was Cornelis Van Borsum, jm from the Ferry at Breuckelen; she Sara Roelofs, wid. of Hans Kierstede.)^5,6,7,8 Cornelis Van Borsum died in September 1682.¹

     He lived on the corner of Whitehall and Pearl Streets in Manhattan, and later moved to Brooklyn. He joined the Brooklyn Church in 1663.¹ Cornelis Van Borsum made a will on 16 June 1680. It was proved 25 Sep 1682. He was Cornelius Van Bursam, of New York. Names wife Sara, daughter Anna; my wife's daughter Rachel Kierstede; brother Timon Van Borsum.
