     Johannes G Reyerse lived at Hackensack, NJ, at the time of his marriage.⁴ He made a will on 4 December 1779. It was proved 14 May 1782. He was Johannes Reyerse, of Saddle River Township, Bergen Co., Esq. Names children George, Hessel, Elizabeth, Leena, Blandeene (now wife of Doct. Van Bueren), Jenne (now wife of Michael Vreeland) and Geertye; grandson John Reyerson, eldest son of my son George; eldest son John (son Hessel is to support my son John during his lifetime). Executors: son Hessel, son-in-law John Garretse, and my cousin Hessel Peterse. Witnesses: Adryan Van Houten, John Westervelt, and Richard Van Houten.^10,11

     It is unclear, who John's mother is. BC-Families has him as son of the first marriage with Maritie Spier, Konight has him as son of Geertje. In his father's will his brother Hessel was directed to maintain him for his lifetime, indicating he was disabled in some way, but he is also listed as eldest son. If he was Maritie's son, he would have been 60 when he started having children.

     John Ryerson was born on 1 December 1782.¹ He married Claasje Van Winkle, daughter of Waling Van Winkle, on 2 March 1806 at Acquackanonck, NJ, (DRC.)^2,3 He died on 28 June 1820.¹

     Konight considers Joris too old for the marriage with Susanna, but she is a sponsor in 1747 as "the wife of Joris Reyerson," and in 1755 as "the widow of Joris Reyerson." Name variation: Joris Martensen. Name variation: George Ryerson.¹
