John Vanarsdale

John Vanarsdale was born on 5 January 1756 at Murderer's Creek, Orange County, NY. He married Mary Crawford, daughter of David Crawford, on 16 June 1783. John Vanarsdale died on 14 October 1836.

John served in the army throughout the Revolutionary War. He was captured at Fort Montgomery and held for 9 months. In 1782 he was asergeant under Capt. Hardenburgh of Weisenfelt's Reg't. After hisarriage he saqiled a packet on the NY rivers for 30 years, then served aswood inspector in NYC for 20 years.
