William J. Kievit, of Paterson, an employe of the Belting and Packing company and a resident of Garfield, announces by advertisement that his wife has deserted him. She is living in Lodi with her father, Mr. Constant Van Weele. The couple were married on June 26th of last year and have not lived happily since. Kievit was a widower and has several children, to whom he accuses his wife of having been cruel. He also has another and much more serious fault to find with her, but it is of a private nature. He intends to sue for a divorce.1
     A Willem Kieviet (32 yo) arrives in the US in 1889 on the T. Caland with three children, Willem (9), Jan (7), and Adriaan (4). In the 1895 NJ census a William Kievit (20-60), John (5-20), William (5-20), and Fred (5-20) are living in Passaic, all are foreign born. They are in the same house as Fred and Annie Johnson (both 20-60, foreign born) and their two small daughters. But I can not find them anywhere else.3,4
