Rutgert Albertszen d. a 13 Jan 1689/90
Josyntje Verhagen, from Middelburg, came to New Netherland with her 9 yr old daughter on the "Faith" on 12 Feb 1659.2,5 Josyntje Verhagen and Rutgert Albertszen made a will on 13 January 1689/90. Will of Rut Albertse and Josyna Verhagen, his wife. The testator is guardian over Albert Janse Boomgaart, son of Jan Cornelisse Boomgaart, resident at Hackingsack; and over Albert Gerritse, son of Gerrit Stoffel, residing at Yellow Hook. Children of testatrix: Jacobus Cornelisse Van Oosten, Elizabeth Cornelisse Van Westen, Cornelia Cornelisse Van Oosten. Witnesses: G. Beeckman, Symen Hanssen and Johannes Van Ekelen. (Flatbush Town Records, Liber A, page 146.)
Ruth Albertsen and Josyna Verhagen, his wife, made another will on 24 Oct 1700. The two daughters of testatrix by name Elizabeth and Cornelia, and her only son Jacobus Cornelissen. Albert Gerrits, son of above Elizabeth. To Albert Jansen Boomgaart living at Hackensack. Witnesses: Benjamin Hegeman and Andreis Jansen. (Flatbush Town Records, Liber A, page 247.)1,6
While the will calls Cornelia a daughter of Josyna Verhagen, from the bp. it seems that she is a daughter of Cornelis' first marriage, and Josyna's step-daughter.7
Rutgert Albertsz may have been a sponsor at the baptism on 13 Mar 1681 of Albert, son of Gerrit Christoffelsz and Lisbeth Cornelis, the other sponsor being Cornelia Cornelis; Stoffel Gerretsen and Josyntie Verhagen (Holgen) are on 20 Oct 1690 sponsors at the baptism of Josyntie, daughter of Gerrit Stoffelse and Lisbeth Cornelisse.8 Name variation: Holgen.1,8
