     Abraham Le Foy was baptized on 11 November 1716 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Abraham Lasay and Marytje Lasay; father Samson Lasay, mother Elizabeth Ewouts.)^1,4 He married Ariaantje de la Montagne, daughter of Thomas de la Montagne and Rebecca Bruyn, on 28 December 1745 at New York City (DRC.)^5,6,7 (with license; Abraham Le Foy and Adriana de Lamontagne; reg. On 27 December 1745.)⁷ Abraham Le Foy was buried on 8 October 1771 in the DRC Cemetery, at New York City as "Abraham Lefoy."^8,9

     Jacques Le Mahieu was born circa 1559 at Leyden, The Netherlands.¹ He was baptized at Dinant, France.¹ He married Jeanne Mahieu.¹ Jacques Le Mahieu died on 30 June 1603.¹

     NOTE: Jacques is listed as born in Leyden and baptized in Dinant, which seems rather impossible! It is also unclear where this marriage came from; at Hester's marriage (Hester was also of Canterbury), her mother and sister are witnesses, father is not mentioned. Jacques' death date is the same as the supposed marriage date of Hester. There is a Jacques Le Mahieu in Leiden, but most of the records are too late, only one before 1603: Jaques Mahieu is a witness at the baptism of Judith Mulé, daughter of Pierre Mulé and Phillippotte Phillippo (no other related names.)^2,3

     It seems strange Abraham would be of Marbletown, when he married, but was bp. in NYDC. BC-Famlies has him as son of Jan Delamare and Ruth Waldron in Jan's entry, but not give parents in Abraham's own entry; is he possibly Abraham Le Maitre, son of Abraham and Selitje Vernoy?²

     Claude Le Maitre was born circa 1620 at Richebourg, Artois, France.^1,2 He (1) married Louise Quennell (Kenelle/Guennel/Cannelle), dau. of Anthoine Quennell & Marguerit le Maistre, on 29 October 1638 at Canterbury, Kent, England, (contract.)³ He (2) married Jeanne De Lannoy on 19 May 1648 at Middelburg, The Netherlands, (Walloon Church.)³ Claude Le Maitre (3) married Hester Du Bois, daughter of Pierre Du Bois and Catherine Clarisse, on 24 April 1652 at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.^1,2,3 (Banns on 6 April 1652 at Amsterdam. He was widower of Jannetje La Noij; Her witness was her father Pieter Dubois.)⁴ Claude Le Maitre died circa 1683 at Harlem, NY.¹

He mentions his wife Helena Montes (she is pregnant); his kinsman James Le Montes of the island of Jersey; James Jacobsen, son of Hendrick Jacobsen; Susannah Fell; and Maria Larise. Wife to be sole executor. Letters of administration granted to the widow Helena Montes.⁴

     Jean Le Montez was baptized on 6 March 1692 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Hendrick Jacobszen and Helena Deamarets; father Jean Le Montez, mother Helena Fel.)¹ He married Aaltje Van Norden, daughter of Johannes Pieters and Hendrickje Ten Eyck, (they have children bp. in NYDC.)^2,1

     Abraham Le Roux was born at Mannheim.^2,3 He (1) married Magdalen Uzile, daughter of David Uzille and Maria Casier.^1,4 Abraham Le Roux (2) married Olive.¹ Abraham Le Roux died before 8 January 1711/12 at Hunterdon County, NJ.^1,5

     Abraham Le Roux and Olive had at least three more sons: Abraham (b. 1693), Isaac (d. 1760), and David (d. 1732).⁶ Abraham Le Roux made a will on 21 September 1702. He (Abraham Larue) mentions his wife Alchy, and his unnamed children. His inventory was prepared on 8 Jan 1711/12. Administration of the estate was granted to the widow Olive La Rew (La Rue) on 14 Jun 1712.⁵ Abraham Le Roux lived at Hopewell, NJ.¹
     Abraham Le Roux (son of Abraham LeRoux/LeRue and Jeanne du Four) and Pierre Le Roux (son of Pierre Le Roux of Calais) were cousins. They were grandsons of Anthoine Le Roux, who married twice
     Abraham Le Roux of Mannheim arrived on Staten Island, NY in 1678 on the Dutch ship De Trouw (Faith) with Jeanne Guerin LeRou and her children, all b. Mannheim. They were followed in 1680 by more of the family, arriving on the ship Caledonia. Pierre LeRou/Le Roux had died on the voyage.⁷ His parents were Abraham LeRoux/LeRue and Jeanne du Four. She was widow of Isaac Fremor/Fremeau/Fremy, and daughter of Jean du Four.⁷
     Abraham LeRoux (d.1712), a French Huguenot, immigrated about 1680 from France (probably via Holland and England), and settled at Esopus, Old Ulster, New York (now Kingston, New York) between 1688 and 1692. He later moved to Staten Island, New York and then to Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Isaac LaRue Sr. (1712-1795), a direct descendant of Abraham, lived to Frederick County, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois and elsewhere.
     The first La Rues fled from France about the time of the reign of Charles IX.
     Abraham sold and transferred land at Esopus in 1688 and 1692. He settled in the Huguenot Colony on Staten Island where he was a constable. He later moved to NJ.^1,8

     Jacques Le Roux was from Mannheim in the Palz acc. to his marriage certificate.^4,5,6 He married Wybrecht Helling, daughter of Hendrick Thomaszen Helling and Grietje Samuels, on 25 January 1681 at Bergen (DRC.)^7,5,8,9,10 (Banns on 2 January 1681. He was Jacob Lerou, ym from Mannheim in the Palz; she Wybrecht Hendricks, yd, from Bergen. Rec'd cert. 25 Jan to NY.)¹¹ Jacques Le Roux died between 14 November 1728 and 2 September 1730.^5,12,13

     Jacques Le Roux made a will on 14 November 1728. It was proved 2 Sep 1730. He was Jeams Laroe. Names wife Wybregh; children Hendrick, Samuel, Abraham, Jannecke, Mary, Ann, and Margrit; the children of his dec'd daughters Susanna and Angenietie; and Elizabeth, the daughter of dec'd son Peter. Excecutors: sons Hendrick, Samuel, and Abraham.
