     Willemtje Spier had at least two sons, both bp. Bergen:

     Ella Spindler was born in 1861.³ She married Baltus DeWitt, son of William DeWitt and Sarah Ann DeWitt.¹ Ella Spindler died in 1893.³ She was buried in Terra Alta.³

     Jonathan Spindler was born on 20 January 1826.² He married Deborah Pysell. Jonathan Spindler died on 2 February 1914.²

     Jonathan Spindler lived at Brandonville, WV.³ Jonathan came with his father as a boy from Berlin, Germany. In 1849 they moved to Preston County, WV.
The Spindler family of Germany was well known and its arms are given in 'Wappembuch' by Siebmacher.²

     Johanna Spinhoven was born on 12 September 1910 at Rotterdam, The Netherlands.¹ She married George Michael Peters, son of John Henry Peters and Catherine Little, on 28 September 1931 at Manhattan, NY.^5,3 Johanna Spinhoven died on 19 June 1998 at Brick, NJ.¹ She was buried on 25 June 1998 in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.¹

     Johannes Spinhoven was born on 9 May 1875 at Haastrecht, The Netherlands.^2,3,4 He married Johanna Lagendijk circa 1909 at Rotterdam, The Netherlands.^1,5 Johannes Spinhoven died on 1 April 1959 at Freehold, NY.^1,6 He was buried in Freehold Cemetery.⁶

     Johannes Spinhoven immigrated before 22 March 1911 to Union City, Hudson County, NJ.^1,5
     He registered for the draft on 12 September 1918 in North Bergen. He is living at 216 Dell Ave, North Bergen; and working as a bargeman for the D.L&W Railroad in Hoboken. He lists his birthday as 9 May 1875.³ He was captain of a boat (1920-30), a bargeman for the railroad (1918.)^1,7 The 1920 census lists Johannes Spinhoven and Johanna at Ward 2 at North Bergen, NJ, with their children Johanna (11), John (7, b. NJ), and Jacob (5, b. NJ). They are listed as immigrating in 1910, the father filed papers, the mother and daughter are still aliens.⁷ The 1930 census lists Johannes Spinhoven and Johanna at 284 Palisade Ave at Union City, NJ, with their children Johanna (19, telephone operator), John (17, b. NJ, clerk for the railroad), and Jacob (15, b. NJ.)^1,8
     In 1921 they visited the Netherlands, arriving back in the States on Aug 1. Johannes is 46,
Johanna (mother) 29, Johanna (daughter) 11, and there are two more children: Johannes (b. 2 Mar 1912 in Hoboken) and Jacob (b. 3 May 1815 in Hoboken). He had applied for a passport on 14 Mar 1921, for himself and his wife and three children. He lists his birth as 9 May 1875, and his immigration date as 1 Dec 1910. He is living at 216 Dell Avenue, Homestead, NJ. He was naturalized in Jersey City on 28 May 1920

There was some complication, because the banns were not published until 31 Jul.)³ Jan Hendriksen Splinter (2) married Annetje Abrahams on 22 July 1662 at New York City (DRC) (He was Jan Hendrickszen van Bommel, wid Lysbeth Jans; she Annetje Abrahams, jd from Amsterdam.)^5,6 Jan Hendriksen Splinter died before 16 August 1693.⁷

     Arthur Samuel Spohn was born on 4 March 1889 at Montclair, Essex County, NJ. He married Lillian Garnett Ridsdale on 11 March 1909 at Montclair, NJ. Arthur Samuel Spohn died on 8 June 1958 at Chatham, Barnstable County, MA. He was buried on 10 June 1958 in Seaside Cemetery in Chatham.

     Arthur Spohn, Mable Spohn, William Spohn and Harry Scott Mann were listed in the Children's Home at 121 Gates Ave at Montclair, NJ,in the census of 1900.² The 1910 census lists Arthur Spohn and Lillian A at 601 Bloomfield Ave at Montclair (Ward 2), Essex County, NJ, with on the next page his siblings Mable and William; two lodgers: Harry Scott Mann and Victor Kniblicky (16, b. NJ, apprentice cabinet maker), his daughter Margaret, and his mother-in-law Margaret Ridsdale (36, b. Canada.)^3,4 Arthur Samuel Spohn was a chauffeur for a private family.³

     Information is confirmed with a copy of the birth certificate which I have a copy of. It shows he was born on Bloomfield Avenue but does not show an address.

     Henry Spohn was born on 23 November 1863 at Bloomfield, Essex County, NJ. He married Susan Tuers, daughter of Joseph Samuel Tuers and Lydia Campbell, on 12 August 1885 at Newark, Essex County, NJ. Henry Spohn died on 5 April 1922 at Kearny, Hudson County, NJ, (Other note has date as 2 Apr 1922.) He was buried in Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Upper Montclair, Section W Lot #3.

     Henry Spohn was on 12 August 1885 a coachman. His parents were Henry Spohn and Elizabeth Lehman.
     More information: the marriage certificate held by Richard Mann from the state of NJ, shows that he was a Coachman.
     The 1880 census shows the last name as Spaun but other certificates show the name as Spohn.
     Essex County information shows a John H Spaun born to Henry Spaun on this date. This appears to be the correct information.
The 1870 census shows him living with the family in Montclair.
     Information from the cemetery shows him living in ghe Soldier's Home in Kearney, NJ at the time of death and that he died from Septicaemia. Name variation: Henry Spaun (, also John H Spaun, Henry Sphon.)

     Mable Spohn was born on 23 March 1891 at Montclair, Essex County, NJ.² She (1) married Harry S Creeden. Mable Spohn (2) married Harry Scott Mann on 15 April 1914 at Montclair, NJ. Mable Spohn died on 1 January 1959 at Montclair, NJ.² She was buried on 3 January 1959 in Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield.³

     Mable Spohn, Arthur Spohn, William Spohn and Harry Scott Mann were listed in the Children's Home at 121 Gates Ave at Montclair, NJ,in the census of 1900.⁴ Mable Spohn and William Spohn were living in the Children's Home at Gates Ave at Montclair, NJ, in the census of 1905.⁵

He is listed as a chauffeur and I have pictures of him in his uniform. Family letters addressed to him by a Kate Wallace, who identifies herself as a cousin and her mother as an aunt to his mother who lived in Montclair and refers to family that still lived in Phillipi, WV and his father who reportedly moved to OH where he started a second family that possibly resulted in 2 daughters.

     William Spohn, Mable Spohn, Arthur Spohn and Harry Scott Mann were listed in the Children's Home at 121 Gates Ave at Montclair, NJ,in the census of 1900.² William Spohn and Mable Spohn were living in the Children's Home at Gates Ave at Montclair, NJ, in the census of 1905.³ William H Spohn was a chauffeur in a garage.⁴ The 1930 census lists William H Spohn at Cedar Grove, NJ. William Risdale letter refers to him being in the service during WWI and possibly being wounded. He is listed in the census as a vet. Except for name and birth date everything else is from the 1930 census. He died shortly after my mother met him which would be some time after 1940. I never met him but did meet his widow as a child.
