     The 1885 census lists Anna Kohbertz (20-60, b. Germany); Frederick Kobertz (20-60, b. Germany); Anna Metzer (5-20, US-born); Hannesinne Schow (20-6-, b. Germany); and George Joseph Binns (20-60, US-born.)⁸ Name variation: Anna Maria Margaretha Metzer.² Name variation: Anna Kohberty.⁷ Married name: Kohbertz.⁵ Married name: Heugen.

     Annie Metzer was born on 26 June 1871 at Wood-Ridge, NJ.^2,3,4 She was baptized on 14 November 1879 at East Rutherford, NJ, (St. Joseph's.)² She married Alfred Gramlich on 7 January 1890 at Wood-Ridge, NJ, (He was 24, she was 19.)¹ Annie Metzer died on 16 August 1913 at Wood-Ridge.³ She was buried in NY Cemetery (Maple Grove) in Hackensack.³

     The 1910 census lists Alfred Gramlich and Annie at Hackensack Street at Wood-Ridge, Bergen County, NJ, with their four children, all b. NJ: Annie (18, bookkeeper at real estate office), Alfred (16, clerk in plumbing supply store), Irma (12), and Mildred (9); a cousin Frederick Kohbertz (63, b. Germany, single, real estate agent, imm. 1853, naturalized); and a servant Carrie Koegel (25, b. NJ, parents b. Germany). Albert and Annie's parents are also b. Germany.⁴
     There are birth records for four children: Annie (7 Dec 1891, mother Kobertz), Alfred R (12 Nov 1893, mother Kobertz), Gladys I (22 Feb 1897, mother indexed as Kobesty), an unnamed daughter (8 Feb 1895, mother Kohbertz). At the death of the eldest daughter on 14 Nov 1928 in NYC, the mother is listed as Anna Welzer.^5,6,7,8,9
     It is unclear, why Frederick Kohbertz is listed as cousin in the household of Alfred and Annie Gramlich. When Annie married Alfred in 1890, her surname is Metzer; but at the birth of her children, her surname is listed as Kobertz or a variant. At the death of daughter Annie in 1928, her surname is Wezler (prob. in error for Metzer). Annie's parents are Carolo Metzer and Anne Martin; did Anne Martin marry Frederick Kohbert Sr, as a 2nd wife? Frederick Jr is not with the family in 1850 or 1855, was he still in Germany?¹⁰ Married name: Gramlich. Name variation: Anna Kobertz (at the birth of the children.) Name variation: Anna Kohbesty Gramlich.³

     Carl Metzer was born on 6 August 1831 at Munchen-Gladbach, Germany.^2,3,4 He was baptized on 8 August 1831.² He married Anna Martin. Carl Metzer died on 6 September 1898.⁴ He was buried in NY Cemetery (Maple Grove) in Hackensack.⁴

     Carl Metzer and H Metzer immigrated in 1860 on the "Teutonia." Carl is 28, H. is 25 They arrived 20 Jul 1860. They had left Hamburg on 30 Jun 1860. Their residence is listed as Munchen-Gladbach, Pruissen.^5,3 The 1880 census lists Charles Metzer and Anna at 39 Broadway at Carlstadt (Lodi Twp), NJ, with their children, all b. NJ: Anna (9), Louisa (8), Charles (6), Amelia (4), and Frederick (1). Charles is listed as 40, b. Bavaria; Anna as 29, b. Bavaria.⁶
     NOTE: On 14 Nov 1879 both Henry and Carl have children baptised at St. Joseph's in East Rutherford. Carl is married to Anna Martin; Henricus is married to Maria Martin (the child is William Carl, b. 6 Aug 1873, NJ). Considering they both come from Munchen-Gladbach, and Anna Metzer does also, and the fact that Frederick Kohbertz is listed as a cousin of Annie Metzer Gramlich in 1910, makes me think that they are siblings. But it does not explain, why Annie Metzer's surname if Kohbertz at the birth of her children.^1,7,8,9 Name variation: Charles Metzer.⁶ Name variation: Carl Heinrich Metzer.²

     Carl Metzer was born on 29 December 1874.¹ He was baptized on 14 November 1879 at East Rutherford, NJ, (St. Joseph's.)¹

     Henry Metzer was born on 26 September 1836 at Munchen-Gladbach, Germany.^2,3 He married Mary Martin, b. 1847 in Klein Wallstadt, daughter of Johann Martin and Elizabetha Jacob. (Klein Wallstadt is in Bavaria), on 7 August 1867 at Manhattan, NY.¹

     Adolf Meyer was baptized on 24 July 1692 at New York City (DRC.)¹ He (1) married Margareta Waldron, daughter of Johannes Waldron and Anneken Van Dalsen, on 25 October 1716 at New York City (DRC.)^2,3 (Banns on 28 September 1716. He was Adolph Meyer, jm; she Margritje Waldron, jd, both from N. Haarlem.)⁴ Adolf Meyer (2) married Catharina Haring, daughter of Peter Haring and Margaret Bogert.³ (Banns on 26 April 1723 at DRC, Tappan, NY.      Adolf Meyer made a will on 10 May 1760. It was proved 5 Mar 1762. He was Adolph Meyer, of New Harlem, in the Out Ward, of New York. Mentions wife, but does not name her; sons Dolph (eldest) and John; children: Ann Waldron, Gertie Sickles, Isaac, Peter, Mary Vandewater, Bridgit, and Sarah. Sons Dolph and John, and son-in-law John Sickles to be executors. Witnesses: Hendrick Van Cramer, Johanes Waldron, and Samuel Moore.⁶
     Konight (Haring File) has Catherine Haring married to Adolph Meyer, but BC-Families has her married to Adolf Meyer as his second wife, and as he was widower of Margrietje Waldron in 1723, that seems right.^3,7

     Adolf Meyer married Maria Verveelen, daughter of Johannes Verveelen and Anna Jaarsvelt.¹

     Adolf Meyer made a will on 13 February 1710. It was proved 2 Sep 1748. He was Adolph Myer of Harlem, yeoman. Names wife Maria; nine children Johanes (eldest son), Hendrick, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Adolph, Anne Katharine, Maria, and Anke. Wife Maria and my son-in-law Samuel Benson to be executors. Witnesses Zachariah Sickles, Marcus Tiebout, and William Huddlestone.² Name variation: Adolph Mayer.^3,4

     Konight (Haring File) has Catherine Haring married to Adolph Meyer, but BC-Families has her married to Adolf Meyer as his second wife, and as he was widower of Margrietje Waldron in 1723, that seems right.^2,3

     Aeltje Meyer was born on 15 January 1718.^1,2 She was baptized at Tappan, NY, (DRC) (sp. Jan Haringh and Aeltie Van Dalssen, his wife.)^2,3 She married Abraham Ackerman, son of David Ackerman and Margrietje Jurcks.^1,4

     Andries and Vrouwtje are listed in the NYDC memebr list f 1686 as "Andries Meyert and his wife Vrouwtje Van Vorst" (member #259-60, name #328-9.^12,13
     Konight has a note on the FGS of Andries on the death line "4 Dec 1671, aged 93, Newspaper Obit, NY Weekly Journal." The New York Weekly Journal was printed by John Peter Zenger, from 5 Nov 1733 to 18 March 1751, so does not cover 1671, but it could be a later article.
     Another on this sheet states the reference for the marriage license of Andries Meyer and Vroutje Idens on 3 Sep 1671 is NY Hist. Manuscripts, English, General Entries 1664-1673, p.441.^14,15
