     Abigail Holmes was born on 27 April 1742 at Plymouth, MA.¹ She married John Bishop on 18 September 1767.¹ Abigail Holmes died on 24 March 1830.¹

     Anna Holmes was born on 20 December 1670.^1,2 She married Jacobus Kierstede, son of Hans Kierstede and Sarah Roeloffse.³ (Banns on 22 May 1691 at DRC, Flatbush, NY. Jacobus Kierstede to Anna Homs, NY.)^3,4,2,5 Anna Holmes died before 9 January 1702.⁶

     Only three children were mentioned in the letters of administration: Hans (10 yo), Samuel (7 yo), and Johannes (3 yo.)⁶ Name variation: Anna Homs.⁵ Name variation: Hanna Hullems.¹ Married name: Kierstede.

     Arthur Holmes was born circa 1845 at Frankfort, Penobscot County, ME.¹ He died on 3 July 1863 at Baton Rouge, LA.¹ He was buried in National Cemetery in Baton Rouge, Lot 264.¹

     Arthur Holmes enlisted in the Army of the War of the Rebellion in Sept 10, 1863 and was mustered to duty on Oct 10, 1863. He died of diphtheria on July 12, 1863 in a Baton Rouge Hospital. He was buried there and not returned to Maine for burial.¹

     Caroline Holmes was born on 18 January 1843 at Newburgh, ME.¹ She married Benjamin F. Bussy on 28 August 1859.¹ Caroline Holmes died on 22 October 1929 at Skowhegan, ME.¹ She was buried in Winterport.¹

     He was married 20 Aug 1719 (MD 18-142) to Patience FFiney (Mayflower Index 51, 896 & 26591), daughter of John Finney and Sarah Lombard. She died 17 Oct 1778 (FC 1-408).

     Ebenezer Holmes Sr was born in 1669/70.¹ He married Phebe Blackmur, daughter of William Blackmur and Elizabeth Bank, on 26 December 1695 at Plymouth, MA.¹

     Documentation for Ebenezer Holmes comes from the Priscilla Jones collection taken from Plymouth records. The only record on Ebenezer Holmes Sr. says he is the son of John and Patience Faunce Holmes. His birth date is around 1670, he lived in Plymouth and was married in Plymouth 26 Dec 1695 to Phebe Blackmur, daughter of William Blackmur, married in Plymouth to Elizabeth Banks in 1666. The marriage of John Holmes and Patience Faunce is documented in Mayflower Descendants 13-206. Phebe Blackmur was born in Scituate in 1673, and died 16 April 1734 in her 62 year.(Epitaph Burial Hill, page 20.)

     Horace Holmes was born circa April 1846 at Frankfort, Penobscot County, ME.¹ He died on 21 July 1847.¹ He was buried in Nealley's Corner in Hampden.¹

     Horace F. Holmes was born in 1824.¹ He died on 27 July 1846.¹ He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Winterport.¹

     Horace William Holmes was born circa 1849 at Hampden, Penobscot County, ME.¹ He married Clara E Redman, daughter of Hudson O Redman and Malinda S Shorey, on 20 July 1881 at Hampden, ME.¹ Horace William Holmes died on 26 January 1890 at Presque Isle, Aroostook County, ME.¹ He was buried in Fairmont Cemetery.¹

     Horace William Holmes was a lumberman.¹ The earliest printed information on Horace William Holmes is on the 1850 Federal Census of Frankfort (Waldo) Maine. He is listed as 2 years old. Parents are William Holmes' 2nd and Emeline. Other children are Mary E., 10; Emily, 8; and Arthur, 6. Also listed with the family is Sarah E. Cobb, 22.
The 1860 Census lists the family in Sangerville, Maine. Arthur is 16; Horace, 11.Father William is 50 and wife Charlotte, 45.
No trace of the family was found in the 1870 Census. However, in 1880, Horace Holmes is listed as a farmer in Presque Isle, ME, age 31. Next door

is sister Mary E. (Wood) with husband James W. and children Emma, James, George and Holden. On the 21st day of June 1880, the census lists him as having 65 acres of tilled land; ?5 acres of woodland. (page 220)
However, in William Holmes, 2nd application for a pension based on the death of son Arthur in Baton Rouge, LA during the Civil War, information on Horace was disclosed. When William Holmes, 2nd left Sangerville in Sept 1865, he resided with his son Horace in Dexter until 1866, and then moved with him to Presque Isle in May 1867.
Horace William Holmes was married to Clara E. Redman in Hampden, ME 20 July 1881 witnessed by charles Crane and E Eveleth. On May 14, 1881, sister Mary E. Wood gave Horace W. Holmes legal right to act for her as regards their father's estate. Horace Holmes died in Presque Isle ME 26 Jan 189? (date obliterated

on stone) and was buried in Lot 19 C Fairmont Cemetary, Presque Isle. (Cemetary records) Court records show he left three minor children, William, Rodney and Horace. His 'late record of death' lists the year of death as 1890. The Star Herald lists his death in the 30 Jan 1890 edition as Sunday night.Court of Probate Records show Andrew Andrew Sprague, George widden and JS Cronkite were empowered to take inventory of the estate 19 Mar 1890. They valued the Real Estate as $1340; goods and Chattels, $694.50; Rights and Credits, $603.23 - total $2637.73. Personal property, and lists of debtors are presented. Hudson Redman, BS Sprague and Clara E. Holmes signed the Probat form 19 Mar 1890From 1893 - 191902 Clara E. Sprague is granted permission on Probate forms to sell much of the land and property of Horace Holmes in order to support her sons.¹

     Horace William Holmes was born in 1886 at Presque Isle, Aroostook County, ME.¹ He married Etta Thompson, daughter of William Thompson and Mary Maclaren.¹ Horace William Holmes died on 28 January 1944 at Milford, New Haven County, CT.¹ He was buried on 27 May 1944 in Fairmont Cemetery in Presque Isle.¹

     Horace William Holmes was born on 8 March 1913 at Ashland, ME.¹ He married Emmiline Marion Peterson on 9 November 1935 at Hartford, CT.¹ Horace William Holmes died on 16 July 1973 at Melbourne, FL.¹

     Ida Isabelle Holmes was born on 26 April 1855 at Binghamton, NY.¹ She married John W Field, son of William Field and Sarah Van Deventer, on 25 March 1880. Ida Isabelle Holmes died on 20 January 1924 at Somerville, NJ.¹ She was buried in Somerville.¹

     Jeremiah Holmes was born on 1 August 1808 at Plymouth, MA.¹ He married Rachel Webber Knowles on 4 December 1832.¹

     Jeremiah Holmes was born on 31 October 1752 at Plymouth, MA.¹ He married Nancy Robinson on 30 January 1782 at Plymouth, MA.¹ Jeremiah Holmes died on 17 October 1799 at Plymouth, MA.¹ He was buried in Burial Hill in Plymouth.¹

     Maine Families in 1790 Vol 2, Maine Gen Soc lists Jeremiah Holmes b Plymouth MA 31 Oct 1752 son of Jeremiah and Patience Holmes. He died Plymouth MA 17 Oct 1799 (g. s. Burial Hil; Plymouth Co Probate #10450), married in Plymouth 30 jan 1782 Nancy Robinson, daughter of Thomas Robinson (VR) who died Orrington, ME 3 Apr 1799. Jeremiah was of Orrington in 1789 when he and Samuel Bartlett, both Mariners bought land in Orrington bordering land already owned by Jeremiah Holmes. (Hancock Deeds 22:88, 89 dated 15 Sep 1789)

     Probate in Plymouth lists minor children over 14 in 1799 as Nancy and Thomas; children under 14 as Jeremiah and William. His will gives daughter Nancy all her mother's waring apparal, all my silver spoons, rings and jewels, all glassware, a looking glass, a case of draws, one large table, six chairs and one drop kettle and a can in care of Nathanial Harlow, and one note against the said Harlow, six sheep let out to john Hampton, one good bed and bedstead with bolster, pillows, two coverlets and curtainsand a cooper warming pan and a note against Timothy Nye...to my sons Thomas, Jeremiah and William the remainder of my estate to be equally divided among my three sons.
     Epitaphs from Burial Hill lists: To the memory of/Mr. Jeremiah Holmes Jr/who died/19 Oct 1799/in the 43rd year of his age/Also in memory of/Mrs Nancy his wife/who died at Orrington/in the county of Hancock/ 3 Apr 1797/aged 37 years.¹
