     Tielman Van Vleck was born in 1610.3 He married Magdalyn Herlyns in 1635 at Bremen, Germany.3

     Tielman and Magdalyn are on the NYDC memberlist of 1649 as "Tileman Van Vleck and Magdaleen Herlyns, his wife."4 Tielman Van Vleck and Magdalyn had two more children, who are sponsors for various baptisms:
1. Catalynia (NYDC p.162, p.186)
2. Johannes (NYDC p.100).5
     The Van Vleck family originates in Limburg, in Vliek near Maastricht. Tielman's parents lived in Bremen and Amsterdam (where they died). Tielman went back to Bremen after he gained his majority, and married there. From 1655 he lived again in Amsterdam. In 1658 he and his family came to New Amsterdam, he taking the small burgher oath on 18 Jul 1658.2

     NOTE: Bergen Families has Geertje as a daughter of Arien and Agatha Jans Spruyt, but that seems unlikely, as Geertje does not name a son Arien.
