     Konight (Van Boerum FGS) has Jan's mother as Jannetje; BC-Families has Jan with Marietje; and Jan with two marriages; Wikitree has two different sons Jan and John, each with one marriage.^1,2,3,4
     Konight referred to two wills, neither seems relevant:
1. NJA 2:501. This is the will of Casparus Van Nortstrandt, of Somerset Co., dated 21 Mar 1739
2. NJA 3:338. This is the will of Johannes Folkertse van Noordstrand, of Somerset Co., dated 5 Jul 1753. He is prob. a son of Volkert Hans Van Noorstrant.^1,5 Name variation: Jan Hansen Van Norstrandt.³

     Johannes Hansen was baptized on 26 May 1740 at Albany, NY, (DRC.)¹ He married Geertruy Slingerland, daughter of Theunis Slingerland and Cornelia Kip.²

     His parents were Richard Hansen and Catharina Ten Broeck.²

     John Hansen married Willemptje Van Boerum, daughter of Hendrick Willemse Van Boerum and Maria Arians, in 1695 (in Kings County.)^2,3

     John Hansen and Willemptje had at least three children:

2. Hendick (bp. 18 Apr 1704; parents Jan Hansen and Willempje; Hendrik Willemze and Aaltje Willemze; Brooklyn p.180)
3. Marytie (bp. 25 Dec 1709; parents Jan Hanzen and Willemptje V. Boexen; sp. Louisje V. Boexen and Jan Luykez; Flatbush p.142).^2,4,5

     Magdalena Hanse was from Swol, in Overyssel acc. to her marriage certificate.^1,2 She (1) married Hendrick Jansen Spier on 14 September 1652 at New York City (DRC) (He was Hendrick Janszen, from Aschwaerde in't Stift Bremen; she Magdaleen Jans, from Swol.)^1,3,2 Magdalena Hanse (2) married Hermen Eduwaerts.^4,5 Magdalena Hanse (3) married Jan Aertsen Vanderbilt on 11 December 1681 at Brooklyn.^4,6 (Banns on 13 November 1681 at DRC, Bergen, NJ. He was Jan Aertsen Vande Bilt (widower); she Maddeleentje Hanse (widow). Cert to Breuckelen on Dec. 10; also reg. in Flatbush DRC on 7 Nov 1681 (acc. to BC-Families, but 11 Dec, acc. to HSYB 1898) Jan Arisz V. derbild, to Magdalentie Hansz; however BC-Families also lists banns in Flatbush: "Jan Arisz vander Bild, widower of Dierber Cornelis, residing in Midwood" and "Magdaleentje Hanssen, widow of Harman Euduardsz, residing at Bergen.")^7,4,8 Magdalena Hanse died after 16 April 1694 at Bergen County, NJ.^1,4

     She possibly married (1) Jan Peers on 22 Jan 1650 (He was Jan Peers, jm; she Magdeleentje Jans, jd from Ditzmarsen); but she is from Ditmarsen instead of Zwolle, and in 1652 Magdalena is not listed as a widow (although also not as yd.)^9,10
     He first came to New Netherland c. 1652, but went back to Holland. On 23 Dec 1660 he returned to New Netherland in the "Trouw," with his wife and two children, 4 and 5 yrs old.^11,12 Magdalena Hanse and Hendrick had three more children, all bp. NYDC:
1. Ariaentie (bp. 12 Jul 1654; father Hendrick Janszen, mother not listed; sp. Jan Corneliszen, Pieter Laurentszen, Hillegond Joris, and Marritje Pieters; NYDC p.37; d. before 1660, as she is not on the passenger list)

     Machdalena Hansen, wife of Hendrick Jansen Spier, of Gemoenepa, sells in the name of her husband to Cristoffel Van Laer, shoemaker, at New Amsterdam, house and lot on the Heere graft at New Amsterdam, next to house of Oloff Stevens Van Cortland and Gerrit Janse Roos, extending in front eastward to the burghwall [city wall], and in the rear to the lot of Abraham Dela Noye. Witnesses, Albert Coningh and Cornelyus Gerloofs.

     On 16 April 1694, Magdalina Hans Vander Bilt, widow of Hendrick Janson Spear and with the consent of her husband Jan Arontson Vander Bilt, of Bergen County, at a place called Mingague Harness, conveyed to Garret Ivers Garretson, of the same place, land of former husband, adjoining Bertole Claesen. Witnessed by Jan Aronson Vander Bilt, Hendrick Van Spear (his mark), Hans Hendrich Spear (his mark), Barent Hendrick Spear (his mark), Brefant Androsen Lovers, Gilbert Bogart, William Douglas, and David Provoost.⁴ Name variation: Magdalene Hans. Married name: Spier. Married name: Vanderbilt.

     Verna Mae Hansen was born on 23 April 1897 at Eagle Mills, Rensselaer County, NY.¹ She married Charles Egustus Duell, son of Charles Egustus Duell and Adelaide Lydia Carl, on 14 June 1921 (Schaghticoke, NY.)¹ Verna Mae Hansen died on 31 July 1983 at Glens Falls, Warren County, NY.¹ She was buried in Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls.¹

Verna was the second of eleven children. After high school she attended normal school and taught before and after her marriage. Her family came first in all her thoughts and she complemented her husband in her desire to do the best for her children. After Robert was born she did mostly substitue teaching in a one room school practically next door to their house.¹

     Mildred Jennie Hanson was born in 1906 at Prior Twp., MN.¹ She married Charles 'Chuck' Henry Courtright, son of John Leslie Courtright and Lillian Mae Stone, on 26 November 1933 at Onawa, Monona County, IA.
