     This must be the Abraham Freeland, listed on page [514]-46 Bergen Co. NJ Pension List who was aged 79 when placed on Roll on 15 Feb 1834. He was a private, receiving $80 per year that started on 4 Mar 1831.2 Abraham's last name is spelled many different ways (Vreeland, Vreland, Fraland and Freeland), all of which are phonetic. Many of his children's births are listed in the records of the Reformed Dutch Records of Pompton Plains, New Jersey. Abraham Vreeland made a will on 10 April 1844 at Passaic County, NJ.5
     
'In the name of God Amen, I Abraham Vreeland of the Township of Pompton,County of Passaic and State of New Jersy being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory for which blessing I do most devoutly thank my God - Do Make and publish this my last will and testament.
I first do give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Jane Vreeland, and all my Estate, real and personal, during her natural life, but would recommend that she should keep four cows, the young horse and one yoke of oxen and sell theremainder of the stock.
2-It is my will after the decease of my wife,Jane Vreeland, that my executors sell my personal property except two choice cows, one horse and one new carpet, which I will and bequeath to my beloved daughter, Mariah Little and also it is my will that she shall have after the decease of my wife the use and proceeds of all my Real Estate to occupy the dwelling house and all other buildings on the premisis so long as she wishes to remain on the premesis or as long as she remains a widow. Amelia C. Vreeland acted as executor. (#37657 A-2 P.Pr. 54 P-4 Will 110.)4 According to his nephew, Abe, son of William, Abraham was a one handed mason and contractor who bricked up the grave of Tunis H Vreeland.6
