     John Buchanan Allan was born in 1851 at Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He married Annie Findlay McAlister, daughter of James McAlister and Rosina McNish, on 5 February 1875 at Smithfield, Providence County, RI. John Buchanan Allan died on 1 April 1890 at Central Falls, Providence County, RI, of Phthisis Pulmonalis, better known as tuberculosis. He was buried on 10 May 1890 in Moshassuck Cemetery in Central Falls.

     When John B. filed his petition for citizenship in the Rhode Island Court of Common Pleas 29 March 1884, an Alexander Allan acted as his witness. It is possible that he was either a brother or a cousin of John's. He was of the same generation and also came from Renfrewshire, Scotland.
     John was born in Scotland. He emigrated to the USA and arrived in New York harbor on 1 May 1873 aboard the SS Victoria from Glasgow. His occupation was listed as storekeeper. It is uncertain whether John knew Annie McAlister while he lived in Scotland, although it looks as though they both came from Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire. John and Annie were married in 1875, the same year that Annie entered the United States. Prior to living on Kendall Street in Central Falls, they lived in Pawtucket, RI according to their marriage register. John and Annie were married by James H. Lyon, Pastor of the Central Falls Congregational Church, Lincoln Township, RI.
     John and Annie's first two children, Emily and Robina, are listed as living in Lincoln Township as small children in the 1880 US Census Report. At the Rhode Island State Archives I found the births of Emily, Wilhelmina and Maybelle. I couldn't find Robina, yet she was in the 1880 US Federal Census and the 1885 Rhode Island State Census.¹ His parents were Robert Allen and Isabella Russell.

     Maybelle Findlay Allan was born on 18 March 1885 at Lincoln, Providence County, RI. She married Thomas Charles Hunter. Maybelle Findlay Allan died in 1965 at San Francisco, CA.

     After Maybelle and Thomas were married, they moved to 799-15th Street, San Francisco, California. After Thomas died, Maybelle moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be near her daughter Eleanor and her family. Married name: Hunter.

     Robina Buchanan Allan was born on 10 October 1879. She married Robert Henry Mitchell, son of John Mitchell and Jane Mitchell, on 15 June 1909 at Central Falls, Providence County, RI. Robina Buchanan Allan died on 14 April 1962 at Brattleboro, VT. She was buried in Central Falls.

     Robina was a graduated of the old Rhode Island Normal School and had taught in Cumberland and Central Falls for almost 14 years. She was a member of the Central Falls School Committee. Robina Buchanan Allan Mitchell lived at 110 High Street, Pawtucket, RI for most of her married life and when she died. She was prominent in civic affairs in the Blackstone Valley for almost 50 years. She had served with both the Blackstone Valley Community Chest and the Red Cross Chapters.
     Robina received and honorary master's degree from Rhode Island College of Education for her record in education and in social community welfare. She was a member of many organizations, and was a founder of the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Rhode Island, and a member of the Daughters of the Heather and a past grand matron in the state for the Order of Eastern Star. Married name: Mitchell.

     Wilhelmina McAlister Allan was born on 10 September 1881 at Lincoln, Providence County, RI. She married George Maxwell McKenzie, son of George Maxwell McKenzie and Mary Blair Kerr, on 6 June 1905 at Pawtucket, Providence County, RI. Wilhelmina McAlister Allan died on 5 July 1962 at Providence, Providence County, RI. She was buried in Moshassuck Cemetery in Central Falls.

     Wilhelmina was born in Lincoln RI. This part of Lincoln is now known as Central Falls. During the last 15 years of her life she lived at 26 Congdon Street, Providence, RI with her son and daughter-in-law.
     Mina, as all who were her family called her, was a member or the Pawtucket Congregational Church, the Queen Esther Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Pawtucket; the Daughters of the Heather and Lady Hamilton Lodge, auxiliaries of the Order of Scottish Clans, and the Pawtucket Woman's Club. Married name: McKenzie.

     Alice Allard married John Edgerly, son of Caleb Edgerly and Abril Cilley, on 4 January 1787.¹ Alice Allard died on 2 November 1812.¹
