In the 1850 and 1860 census there is a Jacob J Newkirk (prob. son of John J Newkirk, 73 in 1860) with two children, John W (7 in 1850, 17 in 1860) and Anna M (9 in 1850, 19 in 1860), but no wife. This would call for more research.3,4 Married name: Newkirk.
