     Garret Servans Cole was born circa 1841 at New York.³ He married Mary Frances Perry on 21 September 1864 at Trenton, Mercer County, NJ.^1,2 Garret Servans Cole died on 21 March 1888 at Paterson, NJ.⁴

     Garret was in the Civil War; He enlisted as a soldier on 16 Jun 1854, when he was 14 (said he was 16). He was a musician in Company 73 Music Boys, at Fort Columbus, NY. Was sent all over, to Texas, Florida, Jefferson, MO, Fort Leavenworth, KS, finally Camp Floyd, UT, wher he was discharged on 16 Jun 1859. He enlisted again, and was at Camp Perrine in Trenton, NJ. He was a private in the NJ First Cavalry, Comp. C. Enlisted 2 Sep 1864; Mustered out 1 Jul 1865 at Appomattox, VA. Discharged at Trenton, NJ.^1,5,6,7 The 1870 census lists Garret Servans Cole and Mary Frances at New York City (ward 9), with two children: Nellie C (4, b. NY), and Edward (1 mo, b. May, NY). Garret is 29, b. NY, a house carpenter; Mary is 23, b. NY, keeps house. Martin E Cornell (46, b. Mass, custom house inspector) and Elisabeth Cornell (60, b. NY, keeps house), with Wm H Cole (40, b. NJ, house carpenter) are living next door. Last name could be Carroll.
They are enumerated on another sheet as well: Martin Cornell (50, custom house inspector) and Elisabeth Cornell (60), one family away from Garrett Cole (29, carpenter), Mary (23), Willie (4) and Edward (1). The writing here is such that it is very hard to differentiate between NY and NJ.^3,8 The 1880 census lists Garret Servans Cole and Mary Frances at New York City (ED 327), New York County, NY, with three children: Ellen (13), Mary E (9), and Martha F (3). Garret is 39, a janitor; Mary is 33, keeps house.⁹ The 1885 census lists Garret Servans Cole and Mary Frances at Paterson (ward 3), Passaic County, NJ, with children William, Edwin, Mary E, and Martha F (all 5-20), and Nelson and Florence (0-5). Garret and Mary are 20-60.¹⁰ Garret Servans Cole was a painter, acc. to his deathcertificate.⁴
     The 1870 census does not list William; the 1880 census does not list William nor Edward/Edwin. Where were those children?^3,9
     There probably is a relation between Abraham G Serven and Garret Servans Cole, but it is unclear how.¹ Name variation: Garrett S Cole. Name variation: Gerrit Cole.

     Grace Cole was born circa 1610 at Heptonstallin, Yorkshire, England.¹ She married Christopher Wadsworth, son of Richard Wadsworth and Christabel Utley, circa 1630 at Heptonstallin.¹ Grace Cole died circa 1688 at Duxbury, MA.¹

     Harriet (Hattie) Cole was born on 10 August 1842. She married Merrit C Carpenter on 15 October 1862. Harriet (Hattie) Cole died on 28 March 1879. She was buried in New Clove Cemetery in Wantage.²

     Henry Perry Cole was born on 24 January 1843 at Closter, Bergen County, NJ.¹ He married Mary Ann Riker, daughter of ? and Mariah Riker, on 23 March 1861 at Middletown (now Pearl River), Rockland County, NY.¹ Henry Perry Cole died on 22 July 1921 at Tenafly, Bergen County, NJ.^1,2

     Henry Perry Cole was born on 20 February 1867.¹ He married Eva Blauvelt on 7 June 1887.¹ Henry Perry Cole died on 3 May 1948.^1,2

     Isaac Cole was born on 16 September 1769.¹ He was baptized on 8 October 1769 at Tappan, Orange County (now Rockland), NY.¹ He married Lena Peterson, daughter of William Peterson and Susannah Waldron, on 25 June 1803 at Paramus, NJ.¹

     Isaac I Cole was born in 1818 at Bergen County, NJ.¹ He married Ann Eliza Titus.²

     The 1860 census lists Isaac I Cole and Ann E at Harrington Township, Bergen County, NJ, with (all b. Bergen County, NJ) Elisa E (18), Josephine (12), Albertina (9), George A (7), Amanda (4), and Day (2) Cole; John Teachman (49, b. Orange County, NY, farm laborer) and Charles Brower (35, b. Bergen County, NJ, farm laborer). Isaac was 42, b. Bergen County, vaniering manufacturer; Ann was 35, b. Paterson, NJ.¹

     John William Cole was born circa 1835.¹ He married Rachel Ann Riker, daughter of Abraham Riker and Hannah Du Bois, circa 1855.¹ John William Cole died before 1870 at Rockland County, NY.¹

     The 1860 census lists John William Cole and Rachel Ann at Nyack at Orangetown, Rockland County, NY, with Eliza (3, NJ). They are living with James D. Bell (48, carpenter) and Susan Bell (42.)²

     Josea Cole was born on 19 July 1802. He (1) married Harriet Wickham. Josea Cole (2) married Harriet Northrup.

     Josiah B Cole was born in 1816. He married Charity Coykendall.

     Josiah Cole Sr was born on 17 October 1740. He married Margaret Muller on 23 September 1757. Josiah Cole Sr was buried in Mt. Salem Cemetery.

     Josiah was a captain during the Revolutionary War. He was the first Cole to migrate across the mountains and settle in Wantage Township.¹

     Julietta Cole was born on 26 December 1881.¹ She married William J Sortor on 3 December 1902.¹ Julietta Cole died on 29 August 1932.¹

     Lemetie Cole was born on 8 May 1800.¹ She married Davis Beemer.¹ Lemetie Cole died on 12 May 1863.¹

     Leonard Cole was baptized on 19 August 1797. He married Catherine Smith on 26 September 1819. Leonard Cole died on 21 October 1863 at age 65.2.2.^2,3 He was buried in Beemerville Cemetery in Wantage.²

     Leonard is listed as baptized (or born) 19 Aug 1797; Stephen as born 18 (or 13) Dec 1797. Leonard has to be at least 6 mo old at baptism for this to work. They both died on 9 Jan 1870!^3,2,4,5

     Leonard Cole was born at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.¹

     Maie E Cole was born in 1890.² She married Kenneth Bodle, son of Isaac Parmer Bodle and Arminda Doty Mapes, on 22 May 1912.

     Married name: Bodle. Kenneth Bodle and Maie E lived at 12 Ryan St. at Port Jervis, NJ. She and Kenneth had no children.

     Margaret Cole was baptized on 17 January 1742.¹ She married Harmanus Van Inwegen, son of Gerardus Van Inwegen and Jannettje DeWitt, on 21 August 1759.^1,2

     It is unclear, where the bp. date comes from; Minisink Records do not list it in 1742; a Margrietje is bp. 21 Jun 1747, but then she would be 12, when she married. There are very few bp. listed in 1742.² Married name: Van Inwegen.

     Mary Matilda Cole was born circa 1836 at New Jersey.¹ She (1) married Orville Wanamaker on 13 May 1854.¹ She (2) married William Valentine May, son of John W May and Hannah Valentine, on 1 October 1870 at Suffern, NY, (Airmont Lutheran Church.)^2,3

     In the 1870 census Mary M (33, b. NJ) is listed in the same house as James (55, b. NY) and Ellen (54, b. NY) Wanamaker, with James O (15), Isaac (13), Charles (11), and Arminda (9) in Ramapo Twp.⁴ The 1875 census lists William Valentine May and Mary M at Ramapo Twp, Rockland County, NY, with daughters Hannah (14) and Annie (1), and stepson Isaac Wanamaker (18, b.NY). William is 39, b. NY, blacksmith; Mary is 38, b. NJ. They are next door to John W May and Susanna Wanamaker.⁵ The 1880 census lists William Valentine May and Mary M at Paterson City, Passaic County, NJ, with stepson Isaac Wanamaker (23, b. NY, boilermaker), and two daughters: Annie (8, b. NY) and Sarah (4, b. NY, listed as son and F.)⁶ Married name: Mary Wanamaker.^3,1 Married name: Mary M May.

     Nelson F Cole was born on 10 August 1880 at New York City.¹ He died before 18 October 1918.²

     He served in the Ambulance Comp. #28, 4th Sanitary Train during WW1.²

     Obadiah Cole was born on 27 March 1888 at Dover, NJ.¹ He married Hulda Sorensen, daughter of Peter Sorensen and Freida Ida Heim.¹ Obadiah Cole died on 2 May 1945 at Newark, Essex County, NJ.¹

     Oscar Mabie Cole was born on 19 June 1864.¹ He married Lorana Higinson on 2 August 1888.¹ Oscar Mabie Cole died on 6 March 1908.¹

     Owen A Cole was born on 21 August 1912 at Park Ridge, NJ.¹ He married Ethel Peverelly, daughter of Walter Peverelly and Mabel Adelia Titus.¹
