     Neeltje Cosyns was from Stuyvesants Bouwerye acc. to her marriage certificate.³ She was baptized on 28 February 1680 at New York City (DRC) (sp. Gerrit Cozynszen and Vrouwtie Gerrits; father Hendrick Cozynszen, mother Belitje Jacobs. Hendrik and Gerrit are prob. reversed.)¹ She married Samuel 'sJakaen, son of Thomas Franszen and Neeltje Urbanus, on 30 April 1699 at New York City (DRC.)^3,4 (Banns on 10 April 1699. He was Samuel 's Jakaen, jm from N. Yorck; she Neeltje Gerrits, jd from Stuyvesants bouwerye, both living here.)^3,5

     Jean Cottin was from Ulster County acc. to his marriage certificate.¹ He married Catherine Blanchan, daughter of Matthew Blanchan and Madeline Brissen Jorisse.¹ Jean Cottin died on 31 July 1721 at New York City.¹

     He was a wealthy and generous man. He was a member of the French Reformed Church in NYC, and the 1st Reformed Church in Kingston.¹

     Charles H Cotton was born in 1853.¹ He married Almira Viola Edgerly, daughter of David Leighton Edgerly and Almira B Chamberlain, on 4 July 1881.¹

     Charles H Cotton was like his father, a shoemaker at Farmington, NH.¹

     Martha L Cotton was from Millington, NJ, acc. to her marriage certificate.¹ She married Richard Lounsbury Elting, son of John Hopper Elting and Sarah Lounsbury.¹

     Martha was from Millington, NJ.¹ Married name: Elting.

     Mary Cotton was born on 22 November 1795.¹ She married Horace Holden, son of Levi Holden and Hannah Plympton, on 19 February 1824.¹ Mary Cotton died on 17 August 1832 at Bloomfield, NJ.^1,2

     Hannah Cottrell was born in 1719.¹ She married Joshua Clarke, son of Thomas Clark and Elizabeth Barbara Worden, in 1738.¹ Hannah Cottrell died in 1808.¹

     Married name: Clarke.

     Hannah A Couch was born on 7 July 1813 at Connecticut.¹ She married William E Hammond.¹ Hannah A Couch died on 11 July 1889 at Newburgh, NY.¹

     Her parents were Silas Crane Couch and Hannah Peet.¹ Married name: Hammond.

     Hannah Coughlin was born in November 1860 at New York City.¹ She married James McKeon, son of Harry McKeon and Mary Moran, circa December 1883 at New York City.¹ Hannah Coughlin died on 28 August 1948 at Malden, MA.^1,2 She was buried on 31 August 1948 in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.^1,3

     The family moved from Jersey City to NYC between 1884 and 1886. They moved to Hoboken around 1892, and in 1920 Hannah is living in Brooklyn with her three youngets children.^1,4 Hannah Coughlin was the informant on the death certificate of Ellen Leeds.^1,5
     Hannah and James Mckeon were married in New York City. There first child, Harry, was baptized in Jersey City, NJ. Hannah's second son Walter and a daughter Ellen were born in NYC. The police census of 1890 has them living at 105 King St. in NYC. In 1891 Ellen was killed by a hit and run driver. Hanna's father John Coughlin died the following year 1892. They moved to Hoboken NJ right after that and the fourth child was born (Arthur) in 1892, and (Frank) was born 1894. Hanna had six children. The two girls were born in 1897 (Marion) and 1901 (May).
Hanna's husband James died in 1915. All of the family was still living in the same house. The family all chipped in to help support Hanna. All except Harry. Harry aspired to be an actor, he did not have a job, so the family sent him out of the house if he wasn't going to help support the mother. Harry went to NYC for a while and adopted a child named Harry around 1930. They later moved to Philadelphia, PA, where he applied for social security in 1945. He died in 1963 in California. (May's letter to Ruth Taylor said he adopted a boy but was not married and died several years ago. The letter is dated 1976).
Around 1928 Hannah moved in with May Mckeon Duff, her youngest daughter. They lived in Malden, MA. On Aug 28, 1948, Hannah Coughlin Mckeon died in a convalescent home. She is buried in Holy Name Cemetery with her husband James and son Frank. Hannah 's birth name is Johannah, as stated on Arthur Clarence Mckeon's baptism record.⁶ Name variation: Johannah Coughlin.¹ Married name: McKeon.

     John Patrick Coughlin was born in 1827 at County Clare, Ireland.¹ He married Ellen Leeds, daughter of William Leeds and Cathrine, in 1853 at New York City.¹ John Patrick Coughlin died on 10 February 1892 at New York City.^1,2 He was buried on 12 February 1892 in Calvary Cemetery in Woodside.^1,3

     John P. Coughlin immigrated from Ireland (date unknown), the only record I have is that he bought a cemetery plot the same year his son William died in 1858.

I do not have John Coughlin's death certificate, and Ellen's death certificate does not name her mother or father.⁴

     Patrick Coughlin was born circa 1800 at County Clare, Ireland.¹ He died at New York City.¹ He was buried in 1892 in Calvary Cemetery in Woodside.¹

     Patrick Coughlin immigrated circa 1848 from Ireland to NYC.¹ He bought a cemetery plot in Calvary Cemetery, NY in 1857.¹

     Laverne Bigelow Couman married Rose Mary Johnson, daughter of Roswell Evans Johnson and Clara Sage Talla, on 31 October 1936.¹

     His father was Arthur Couman.¹

     Margrietje Coursen was from N. Yorck acc. to her marriage certificate.⁴ She was baptized on 15 July 1674 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Theunis Cray and Geertie Theunis; father Jan Corszen, mother Metje Theunis.)^5,6 She (1) married Jacob Van der Scheuren, son of William Vander Schure and Grietie Plettenburg, on 25 July 1693 at New York City (DRC.)^7,4 (Banns on 14 July 1693. He was Jacobus Van der Schuur, jm from N. yorck; she Margariet Jans, jd from N. Yorck, both liv. here.)⁴ Margriet Jans (2) married Joseph Smith on 12 July 1695 at New York City (DRC) (with license; Joseph Smith, from de Barmudes, and Margaret Jans, wid. of Jacob Van der Scheuren.)^8,9

     Margriet Jans and Joseph had one more son with mother Margreta Jans: Joseph (bp. 1 May 1698; parents Joseph Smith and Margreta Jans; sp. Willem Pel and Marretje Van Dyk, wid.), and seven with mother Margrietje Corsen, or a variation thereof.⁶ Name variation: Margriet Jans.¹⁰ Name variation: Margriete Jansen.⁵ Married name: Van der Scheuren.      Ann Court was born at Carnaervan, Wales.¹ She married Joseph Burton.¹ Ann Court died at Batavia, IL.¹

     Barent Courten was from "Rhenen in 't Stift Munster" acc. to his marriage certificate.^2,3 He (1) married Anna Jans on 12 December 1664 at New York City (DRC) (He was Barent Court, from Rhenen, in't Stift Munster; she Anna Jans, wid. of Andries Spiering.)⁴ Barent Courten (2) married Chrystyna Wessels on 30 May 1675 at New York City (DRC.)⁵ (Banns on 16 May 1675. He was Barent Cours, wid. of Annetje Jans; Christina Wessels, jd from Dordrecht, both living here.)⁶

     Barent and Chrystyna are listed in the NYDC member list of 1686 as "Barent Coert and his wife Christina Wessels" (member #376-7, name #472-3.)^7,8 Name variation: Barent Courter.⁹

     Hendrikus Courten was baptized on 6 October 1717 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Thomas Comberling and Aaltje de Riemer; father Hendrikus Coerte, mother Elizabeth de Riemer.)^1,2

     Margareta Courten was baptized on 13 December 1704 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Isaac de Riemer jr. and Margareta de Riemer, wid. of the late Henricus Selyns; father Hendericus Koerte, mother Elizabeth de Riemer.)^1,2

     Aaron Courter was born on 23 December 1776 at Caldwell, NJ.^1,2,3 He married Sophia Ackerman, daughter of Abraham Ackerman and Christina Mead.^1,4 Aaron Courter died on 28 February 1862.² He was buried in Hopper Family Burying Ground in Glen Rock.²

     Research by Judy Ullman indicates that Aaron's parents are unknown. Judy Ullman's files can be found at Rootsweb and contain documented references which place Jacob and Aaron with a different Courter family.

     Aaron Courter was born on 27 February 1837 at Oakland, Bergen County, NJ.² He married Emma Folley, daughter of Abraham Folley and Catherine Adaline Shurte, on 25 April 1863 at Oakland, Bergen County, NJ, (Ponds DRC.)^1,2 Aaron Courter died on 5 July 1922 at Caldwell Twp., Essex County, NJ.² He was buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.^2,3

     Aaron Atwood Courter was born on 1 January 1805 at Caldwell, NJ.¹ He married Wealthy Winters.¹ Aaron Atwood Courter died on 9 April 1835.¹
