     Joris Vreeland married Elsie Meet, daughter of Jan Meet and Grietje Jillis Mandeville, on 18 December 1728 at Acquackanonck, NJ, (DRC.)¹ Joris Vreeland died in 1769.²

     Joris Vreeland made a will on 30 March 1769 at New Jersey. (Abstr. of Wills Vol IV p458.)² Joris (George) was the oldest son as his father's will bequethed George Vreeland, his eldest son, five shillings for his birthright.¹

     Joris E Vreeland was born on 25 September 1710 at Bergen, NJ.³ He was baptized on 9 October 1710 at Bergen, NJ, (DRC.)³ He married Annetje Van Wagonen, daughter of Gerrit Van Wagoner and Annetje Sip.^1,4,5 Joris E Vreeland died on 21 June 1795 at New Jersey.

     Joris E Vreeland and Annetje had two more stillborn children, b. 1747 and 19 Sep 1754.¹ Joris E Vreeland was named as executor in Gerrit Van Wagoner's will dated 17 July 1769.⁶ Joris E Vreeland made a will in 1793. It was probated in 1795.⁴ Joris (George) owned and resided in the house owned by the heirs of Captain William Howe, west of Cavan Point. With Reynier Van Giesen he represented Bergen in the 9th Provincial Assembly of NJ in 1754. He was appointed Judge of the Essex Court of Oyer and Terminer 17 Dec 1744, from which it is inferred that he then resided in that county. If so, he probably lived in Acquackanonk, which was the home of his second wife, Annetje Van Wagenen. In 1748 and 1754 he bought several large tracts of land at Preakness, about four miles west of the present city of Paterson, NJ. In a deed dated 5 June 1758, he is described as of Manachquay (now Moonachie, near Lodi) Bergen County, NJ.¹ Name variation: George Vreeland.

     Josiah owned the Chicken Barn, which was a tavern and fast food restaurant on the corner of Riverview Dr and Route 46 in Totowa Borough, NJ. The property was bought by 2 Guys from Harrison in the 1950's who had a huge appliance store, the forerunner of today's malls.^3,4

     Laura Mason Vreeland was born in December 1854. She married Willis Jesse Tuers, son of Abraham Tuers and Leah Ann Garrabrant, on 26 November 1890.²

     The 1900 census lists Willis Jesse Tuers and Laura at Paterson (ward 4), Passaic County, NJ, with their son Russell, and his mother Leah Ann Garrabrant.³
     In 1909, Warren Vreeland died and left "the homestead and all the buildings, "bounded south by Chestnut Street, west by Franklln Avenue, north by the old John Vreeland line, east by the proposed new street to be called Warren Street." To his daughter Laura Tuers he devised the part lying at the northwest corner of Chestnut Street and Franklin Avenue, also "that strip of land east of Warren Street, bounded east by Third River, south by Chestnut Street and north by old John Vreeland's line." The house stands on the last described plot and had been leased by the Nutley Women's Club in 1906. By deed of 10 October 1923, the said daughter and devisee, Laura Vreeland Tuers and husband, Willis J. Tuers, of Paterson, NJ, conveyed to the Woman's Club of Nutley, Essex County, New Jersey, a plot having a frontage of 112 feet on the northeast side of Chestnut Street in that town, and on the site which stands the house here considered, reciting the will of her father, Warren Vreeland.
