     Jacob Schuurman was born at The Netherlands.2,1 He married Annatje Terhune, daughter of Jan Albertse Terhune and Margrietje Van Sicklen, in 1720/21 at New Brunswick, NJ.3,1,2
     Jacobus Schuurman came to this country from Holland, in company with Rev. Theodorus Jacobus Frielinghuysen. Frelinghuysen arrived at New York at the close of the year 1719, or beginning of 1720, in the ship King George, Capt. Goelet. The records of the Dutch Church at New Brunswick show the admission of “Jacobus Schüurman ” to church membership on confession on 15 Apr 1720.

He taught school in the Netherland language, and was chorister and voorlezer, or prelector, in the church.2,3

     Abraham Schut was born circa 1686 at Marbletown, NY.1,2 He (1) married Heyltje Decker, daughter of Jacob Janse Decker and Belitie Bastiaansse Cortright.3 (Banns on 9 November 1707 at DRC, Kingston, NY.)3 Abraham Schut (2) married Gertje Cortright, daughter of Hendrick Jansen Van Kortryk and Catherine Hansen Webber, on 23 April 1714 at Kingston, NY, (DRC.)4

     NOTE: Acc. to Owens, Heyltje died 23 Apr 1714, and Abraham remarried 23 Apr 1713. The child Heyltjen has a birthdate of 1713 (1714?). Even if the year is wrong, it still seems unlikely that he would have married the same day his wife died. RDC Kingston has more credible dates: 23 Apr 1714 for the marriage, and 25 25 Nov 1713 for the baptism. Heyltje probably died in or shortly after child birth.5,6,7
