NY), and Helen Mathilda (3, b. NJ). David was 48, b. NJ, farmer; Ann was 47, b. NJ. Living with them were William Hilfoil (25, b. Ireland), Rosey Finnigan (19, b. Ireland), and Anthony Eastly (17, b. NJ, black, laborer.)1 The 1880 census lists David R Doremus and Jemima at Hackensack, NJ, with two nieces, both b. NJ: Emma (22) and Jemima (20) Christie; and a sister Margaret Cadmus (42, wid. b. NJ). David is 78, b. NJ, retired; Jemima is 61, b. NJ.4

Banta, 12, and George Banta, 14, children of deceased daughter Helen M Doremus.3
