     Levi L Holmes was born in 1837 at Massachusetts.² He married Ellen Louisa Vreeland, daughter of James Vreeland and Ellen Maria Campbell.¹

     The 1920 census lists Levi L Holmes and Ellen L at Bergenfield Borough, NJ, with his stepmother Leah A Vreeland (90, b. NJ, widowed.)²

     Lydia Holmes married Capt. John Bowne.¹

     Her parents were Rev. Obediah Holmes and Catherine Hyde. Obadiah (b. 1607, made a will 9 Apr 1682) was from Massachusetts. He was publicly whipped in Mass. Colony for preaching in private houses on the Lord's Day. He moved to Newport, RI and later to NJ.¹ Married name: Bowne.

     Maria Louisa Holmes was born in 1827.¹ She died on 27 March 1859.¹ She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Winterport.¹

     Mary Holmes was born on 17 March 1756 at Shelfanger, Norfolk, England.^2,3 She married William Granger, son of John Granger and Mary, on 9 January 1784 at Shelfanger.² Mary Holmes died on 9 June 1851 at Guiltcross Union, Norfolk, England, (Death witnessed by Onan Browne.)⁴

     The 1940 census lists Benjamin Cleaves and Phyllis, with two sons William G.⁵ Married name: Cleaves.

     Priscilla Holmes was from Manhattan Island acc. to her marriage certificate.² She was baptized on 1 April 1682 at New York City (DRC) (sp. Jan Janszen Van Essen and Tryntie Kip; father Jan Homs, mother Magdalena Jans.)^3,4 She married Andries Frederickszen, son of Frederick Thomas and Tryntie Andries Hopper, on 11 April 1704 at Bergen, NJ, (DRC.)^5,6,2 (Banns on 19 March 1704. He was Andries Fredricksen, jm from Bergen; she Priscilla Homs, jd, from Manhattan Island.)²

     Her parents were Jan Holmes and Magdalena Jans.⁷ Name variation: Priscilla Homs.^3,2 Married name: Cadmus.

     Rebecca Holmes was born circa 1811 at Frankfort, Penobscot County, ME.¹ She married John Gould on 18 June 1831 at Hampden, Penobscot County, ME.¹

     Richard Redman Holmes was born on 5 April 1920 at Sheridan - Eagle Lake, Aroostook County, ME.¹ He died on 15 March 1988 at Bridgewater, CT.¹ He was buried in New Milford.¹

     Rodney Arthur Holmes was born on 13 July 1884 at Presque Isle, Aroostook County, ME.¹ He married Eva Evelyn Warman, daughter of George Frederick Warman and Sarah Jane Green, on 31 August 1919 at Houlton, Aroostook County, ME, (by A. M. Thompson, clergyman in Houlton. Newspaper clipping and marriage record lists place of marriage as home of the bride in Houlton, ME, but home of the bride was in Ludlow, ME.)¹ Rodney Arthur Holmes died on 3 January 1952 at Ludlow, Aroostook County, ME, (He was survived by wife Eva of Ludlow, son Pvt Herbert of Camp Edwards, and brother William of Presque Isle.)² He was buried on 5 January 1952 in Fairmont Cemetery in Presque Isle, Donald Dunn Funeral home in Houlton was in charge of the arrangements.¹

     Rodney Arthur Holmes was a manager of the Fish River Mfg Co in Eagle Lake, and had recently returned from overseas where he served in a forestry unit.³
     He was a member of the Blue Lodge of Masons, Royal Arch Chapter of Presque Isle, Commandry of Caribou and Anah temple Shrine of Bangor. He was listed as a veteran of WW I.²
     A daughter of John Oswald Short married a son of Rodney Arthur Holmes.⁴

     Notes given to me (Holmes) by Joan Raia, descendant of the Holmes of Plymouth state that Thomas R. Holmes was a son of Jeremiah Holmes and Nancy Robinson. He was born in Plymouth, MA 10 Mar 1785, and died in Frankfort (now Winterport, ME) 11 Feb 1823. The Priscilla Jones Collection at the Maritime Museum, Penobscot, ME list children of Jeremiah Holmes, Jr and Nancy Robinson as Nancy, Thomas, Jeremiah and William. A third documentation, Maine Families in 1790 Vol 2, by the Maine Geneological Society in 1990, lists Jeremiah Holmes and Nancy Robinson as parents of Nancy, Thomas R. born Plymouth 10 mar 1785; Jeremiah, William and Lander, the latter two being born in Orrington, ME.(across river from Frankfort). Probate at the death of Jeremiah in Plymouth list Guardianship of minor children in 1799 over 14 years of age as Nancy and Thomas; children under 14 years of age, Jeremiah and William. Guardianship was given to John Bishop, Gentleman and Rofrater Cotton, Esq both of Plymouth.
     Joan Raia lists the marriage of Thomas R. Holmes to Rebecca Bearse (Beers) probably at Plymouth, MA circa 1804, settling in Frankfort, ME about 1811. Their children are listed as Thomas, b. 16 Oct 1805, probably Plymouth, married Ann Dorr 1824; Jeremiah b 1808, probably Plymouth, married Rachel Webber Knowles, int. 4 Dec 1832; Rebecca b circa 1811 Frankfort, ME, married John Gould, int 18 Jun 1821, Hampden; Nancy, b 10 Nov 1813, married Jacob Conant. (Died 2 Aug 1893); Harriott, b 30 July 1816, NFI; John, buried Oak Hill with his parents, age 4 years; and William, NFI. (Nancy's probate showed this William to be William, 2nd, born about 1811, in Maine, married Emeline COBB in Hampden 24 Oct 1836. Births of Thomas Holmes and rebecca listed in Frankfort by the Town Clerk are Nancy b 10 Oct 1813; Harriott, b 30 July 1816, John b 25 Mar 1822, and William NFI. Thomas R. Holmes is buried in Oak Hill Cemetary, Winterport ME with his wife and son, John. MOCA lists the birth as Plymouth, MA 10 Mar 1785 and death 11 Feb 1823. Rebecca, wife d. 17 Oct 1860 aet 75 years. John, son, 4 years.(in Abraham Conant lot) Also buried in Oak Hill are brothers: Jeremiah b Plymouth 13 Apr 1788, died Frankfort, ME 15 Apr 1857.      The only other information I could locate on Thomas R. Holmes was the 1820 Federal Census: 1 male under 10, 2 males 10-16, 2 males 26-45; 2 females under 10, 1 female 26 - 45. As Thomas R. Holmes was deceased by the Federal Census in 1830, no record was found for him or under his wife Rebecca.
     Thomas was born in Plymouth, lived in Orington, ME in 1791-95, returned to Plymouth where he was maried and presumably resided until 1811. He moved to Frankfort, ME (now Winterport) where he died in 1823 nearly 38 years of age.^1,2

     Thomas R. Holmes was born on 5 December 1826 at Frankfort, ME.¹
