Christian Friedrich Dickel was born in August 1808 at Germany.1 He (1) married Elise Sonneborn (see marriage of son William.)2 He (2) married Caroline Dimfield (see marriage of daughter Cecilia.)3 He died on 18 September 1880 at Westwood, NJ.1 He was buried in NY Cemetery (Maple Grove) in Hackensack.4,1

In the 1870 census he had a riding academy in NYC, together with Wm. C. Dickel (35), Edward Dickel (29), and Charles Dickel (22), all b. Germany; as wellas a number of other people: riding masters, grooms, and domestic servants. Two houses further (on teh next page) is W.N. Vanderbilt, president of a railroad comp.
