Smith and Maria Jane Dickerson, on 18 March 1896.6 Andrew Jackson Tuers died in 1911 at New Jersey.7

     He served in the Civil War with the New Jersey Volunteers, Company L, 27th Regiment. The 1880 census lists Andrew Jackson Tuers and Lydia A at Hanover (ED 119), Morris County, NJ, with their children Richard, George, Charles, Loretta and Lydia.8 The 1885 census lists Andrew Jackson Tuers and Lydia A, with their children Richard, George, Charles, Loretta and Lydia.9
     Andrew was a mason. The 1897-1898 Vogt Brothers Complete Morris County , NJ Directory, has the following listing:

The 1900 census lists Andrew Jackson Tuers and Frances at Hanover Twp (North District, ED 55), Morris County, NJ, with two daughters from her previous marriage: Clara A (15) and Getrude (12) Eagles.10
     The Dickerson Family genealogy gives Frances Smith as wife of Andrew J. Tuers, however, the birth date of 1867 is suspect. We believe that the correct date is 1857, given that she had sisters born in 1854 and 1861. The 1900 Census also gives her birth year as 1857. She was married first to Isaac Eagles. We believe she may be the second wife of Andrew. The same names and dates appear in Rockaway Records of Morris County, N.J. Families by J. Percy Crayon.11

     UNPROVEN RECORD. Misc data indicated that this may be the Cornelius S Tuers who served in the Civil War from NJ. His age is about right, and the other Cornelius Tuers who we have records for was born Michigan.
     Subsequent records for Charles Veers Tuers provide mother's maiden name as Catherine Matthews. The fact that Catherine's parents lived in Jersey City is also another clue that this is the correct record for Cornelius since census records indicate residence in Jersey City.
