George SOULE sailed on the Mayflower, 1620, was a signer of the Mayflower Compact. He came as a servant to Edward Winslow, Governor of the Plymouth Colony and was assigned (granted ) a small plot of land in Plymouth 1623. In 1637 was a soldier in the Pequot Indian War. In 1638 he moved to Duxbury, Mass with Myles Standish. Was Representative to the General Court 1650 /1 to 1653/4 from Duxbury, Mass. 1643 land owner, proprietor of Bridgewater, Mass which spun off from Duxbury. He was also an early land purchasor in Dartmouth and Middleboro, Mass. "Mayflower Families through five Generations" states : The tentative dates for his birth are based on his signing of the Mayflower Compact in 1620 and his death in 1679. As a signer of the Compact he must have been twenty, the known age of Gilbert Winslow.1,2

"Mayflower Families Through Five Generations" states: In a deposition date 8 March 1705/6, John Soulde swore he was "about seventy foure years" of age. In a deed, dated 30 Dec. 1674, Moses Simmons in "consideration of a marriage heretofore consummated between John Soul of Duxbury and my eldest daughter, Rebecca" gave to John land in Middleboro. John SOULE died intestate and Esther Soul, widow, was appointed to administer his estate 14 N ov 1707. His three daughters of their heirs proposed division of the residuary real estate amongt them since their father "in his lifetime settled all his sons portions in land by de ed", and they, the daughters, received but one cow. The settlement was signed by John and Rachel Cobb, Edmond and Rebecca Eston and Adam Wright on behalf of his children born to his wife, Sarah deceased. G.E. Bowman (MD 8:184ff) identifies all the sons of John and abstracts the deeds of gift to these sons.2

"Mayflower Families Through Five Generations" states: On 5 March 1667/8 Nathaniel was charged and again on 3 June 1668 summoned to Plymouth Colony General Court for telling a poisinous lie for which he was fined ten shillings. Nathaniel of Duxbury and George of Dartmouth filed complaint 5 July 1671 against Giles Slocum for unlawful entry on their lands in Dartmouth in 1669. The brothers, now of Dartmouth, with others filed claims 7 July 1685 for damages on land acquired (by their father, Pilgrim George) from the Indians 29 Nov 1652. Nathaniel died intestate and his widow, Rose, made bond as executrix 12 Oct 1699.
