     Arthur Wickman Dalrymple was born on 12 January 1901 at Newark, NJ.¹ He married Beatrice May Post, daughter of Adam Francis Post and Irene Tuers, on 7 February 1925 at New York City.¹ Arthur Wickman Dalrymple died on 27 December 1972 at Ormond Beach, FL.^1,2

     Arthur Wickman Dalrymple was an Episcopalian.
     Dal was born 12 January 1901 in Newark, NJ. His mother died when he was eight years old and his father committed suicide on her grave two years later. His siblings had died in infancy. Now an orphan, he was raised by his paternal grandmother. At age 15 he lied about his age so he could join the Navy. After World War I, he went to the U. S. Maritime Academy and graduated second from the top of his class. He went on to TriStatc College in Indiana to get his Masters Degree and in 192R was sent to Barranquilla, Colombia, South America by his employer, Electric Bond and Share, to install the first electric plant and aqueduct in that city. He had his degrees in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. When World War II broke out, he returned to the U.S. to sign up for the war but the powers that be decided it was more important to use his talents building Liberty ships for the war effort so that is what he did until the end of the war. When it was over, he went back to Barranquilla and opened his own business. Soon after,he was hired by The Ellicott Machine Corporation in Baltimore, MD to represent them in the world market selling dredges. He retired in 1957 to Ormond Beach, Florida.³ Name variation: Dal Dalrymple.

     Cornelia Damen was from Midwout acc. to her marriage certificate.^1,2,3 She married Pieter Uzille, son of David Uzille and Maria Casier, on 6 April 1686 at New York City (DRC.)^4,3,5,6 (Banns on 17 March 1686. He was Pieter Uzie, jm from Manheym; she Cornelia Damen, jd from Midwout, the first liv. at Staten Eylt, and the second in the Walenbocht.)³

     Possibly the child bp. in 1663 is Cornelia, rather than Cornelis.

     Lysbeth Damen was baptized on 20 September 1676 at New York City (DRC) (sp. Jan Adriaenszen and Lysbeth Jans; father Jan Damen, mother Fytie Martyns.)^2,4,5 She married Lucas Schermerhorn, son of Jacob Janse Schermerhorn and Jannetjie Segars.^1,3,6

     An Elizabeth Damen was rec'd into the Brooklyn Church on 19 Oct 1695.⁷ Elizabeth Damen and Lucas had two children bp. in New York:

     Hendrickje Janse Damen married Cornelis Buys.¹ Hendrickje Janse Damen died before 1649 as she is deceased when her brother made his will.

     A note on the FGS of Cornelis Buys stated that Hendrickje Janse Damen was a sister of Jan Jansen Damen.¹ Married name: Buys.

     Jan Damen married Aeltje Jans.² Jan Damen died before 3 February 1627.²

     Aeltje was from Bunnik. Bunnik records don't start until 1626. A Cornelus Janss married Gerrigjen Peters on 13 Nov 1631, she from Bunnik, he from Honswijk; but there is nothing to link him to Jan and Aeltje, or to Jan Cornelis Damen and Fytje Martens.^2,3 Name variation: Jan Cornelis Damen.²

     Jan Damen was baptized on 28 August 1678 at New York City (DRC) (sp. Paulus Ritzart and Neeltie Jans; father Jan Cornelis Damen, mother Fytie Martyns.)^1,3,4

     Jan Cornelis Damen was born at The Netherlands.¹ He married Fytie Martens.^1,2 Jan Cornelis Damen died before 9 April 1707 at New York.^3,4,5

     Jan came from Bunnik to New Netherland in 1650.⁶ Jan Cornelis Damen and Sophia Martins made a will on 1 September 1680. It was proved 3 Sep 1706. She is sick, no children mentioned.^3,7
     He took the oath of allegiance in Sep 1687. He had been in the country 37 years.⁸

     BC-Families Damen File splits the children of Sophia Martens of from the children of Fytje Martens, not sure why. The spread of the children is rather large: Lysbeth and Neeltje married in 1679, so should be b. no later than 1663; Johanna is bp. in 1702, a spread of 40 yrs!
     While Jan Cornelisse Buys was also called Damen, he is not the same as Jan Cornelis Damen, who married Fytie Martens. They are contemporaries, but the first seems to have used mostly Buys, the second used exclusively Damen; it is unclear who Jan Cornelis Damen's father is; Jan Cornelisse Buys's mother had two brothers Cornelis.
     NYG&B has a note with the deed, that Jan came from Bunnik; and lists 13 children.¹⁰
     Jan Cornelis could possibly be a son of Cornelis Jansen Damen. Name variation: Jan Damen. Name variation: Jan Cornelisen Damen.²

     Jan Jansen Damen married Adrienne Cuville.¹ Jan Jansen Damen died on 18 June 1651.^1,3

     He settled in Renselaerwyck in 1634 (HSYB). He adopted the son of his sister, Jan Cornelis Buys, who took his name. He obtained in 1638 land in Manhattan (vLaer.)^3,4 Jan Jansen Damen made a will on 12 December 1649. He mentions his wife (not by name); the son of his dec'd sister Hendrickie Jans, living with testator, called Jan Cornelisse Buys alias Jan Damen; his brothers Cornelis Jansen Cuyper, Cornelis Jansen Damen, Willem Jansen Damen; and his sister Neiltje Jans Damen.^5,3

     John Damen was born on 11 November 1621 at Tenterden, Kent, England.¹ He (1) married Katherine Merritt, daughter of Henry Merritt and Goody, on 16 June 1644 at Scituate, MA.¹ John Damen (2) married Martha Howland on 15 January 1659 at Scituate, MA.¹ John Damen died on 3 October 1676 at Scituate, MA.¹

     Lysbeth Damen married Jean Casier on 14 December 1679 at Flatbush, NY, (DRC) (Jean Casier to Lysbet Jans Damen.)^1,2 Lysbeth Damen died before 9 April 1707.³

     Philip is mentioned as heir of his mother Lysbeth in a deed in 1707; he lived at that time in Richmond County. He married as his second wife Catherine Hoogland, either the daughter of Dirck Hooglant and Maryken Kip, bp. NYDC in 1689; or the daughter of Joris Hoogland and Catryntie Daniels Richaud (acc. to Konight; BC-Families lists both possibilities.)^3,4,5 Married name: Casier.

     Lysbeth Damen was from Herpt acc. to her marriage certificate.¹ She (1) married Adriaen Jansen Koningh, son of Jan Gysbertsen Koninck and Mareke Adriaensz, on 15 March 1650 at Well, Gelderland, The Netherlands, (DRC.)^1,2 (Banns on 16 February 1650. Arien Jansen Konink, jm in Wel, and Lyske Damen, jd from Herpt.)² Lysbeth Damen (2) married Huybert Arentse on 11 August 1691 (Huybert Arentse of NYC, clerke, and Elizabeth Konning, wid.)^3,4

     Adriaen and Lysbet came to New Amsterdam on 16 Apr 1663 on "De Bonte Koe" (Spotted Cow) with four children, aged 8, 6, 4, and a half yr old.^5,6 Married name: Koningh. Married name: Arentse.

     Maeken Damen (1) married Josias De Lint, son of Ewout de Lint, on 26 June 1622 at Rotterdam, The Netherlands, (DRC.)^2,1 (Banns on 12 June 1622. He was Esaias Ewoutsoon van der Linde, jm; she Maeken Damen, jd.)¹ Maeken Damen (2) married Jan Verbeek.²

     A Jan Verbeeck was an attorney in Albany. He arrived with his family at Manhattans 29 Nov 1641. In 1670 he had a grant of a lot on the west corner of James and Steuben streets. In 1697 he was eighty five years old, and died about 1699.
     Konight has the marriage in Amsterdam in 1641 of Jan Verbeek and Mayken Damen/Adams. He is 27, she 42, and a widow.
     I have not been able to confirm this marriage; the only one that comes close is the banns of Jan Van der Beek and Margriet Van Diemen on 24 Aug 1641. He is 21, she is 28. She has a witness, her cousin, so she is not a widow. There is another registration on 17 Aug 1641, where he seems to be 27, but that is crossed off.^3,4,5,6 Name variation: Mayken Vissinburg.² Name variation: Mayken Adams.² Married name: De Lint.²

     Maritie Damen was born in 1611 at Doesburg, Gelderland, The Netherlands, (25 yr in 1636.)² She (1) married Dirck Van Eps in 1636 at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.^3,1,2 (Banns on 19 April 1636. He was widower of Stijntje Reijnders; her parents were deceased, her witness was Judith Panders, her ?)^4,2 Maritie Damen (2) married Hendrick Andriessen Doesburgh, son of Andries, on 18 December 1649.⁵ (Banns on 4 December 1649 at Amsterdam. She was widow of Dirck van Eps.)^5,1,3,6,7 Maritie Damen (3) married Cornelis Hendrickse Van Ness, son of Hendrick Gerretson Van Ness, on 21 March 1664.^1,3,8,9 Maritie Damen died on 3 July 1682.¹

     Dirck appears on 5 Oct 1640 and 8 Jan 1646 in the notarial records of Amsterdam. He is a shoemaker. From 20 Nov 1647 through 7 Aug 1648 Marritje Dame is several times listed as widow of Dirck van Eps. All records seem to be connected to either the East India Company or the West India Company.      NOTE: There seems to be quite a bit of contradictory information about Maritie Damen and her husbands. The marriage with Dirck can be found in Amsterdam, but no baptisms. Supposedly they had three children, who came to New Netherland (Jan, Lysbet, and Evert), but they were born before 1636, so have to be Maritie's step-children. The marriage with Hendrick is found in Amsterdam (but does not appear in the searchable index, but see Kees Leseman's website)

     Martje Damen was baptized on 24 July 1661 at Brooklyn, NY, (DRC) (sp. Michiel Tatens and Annetie; father Jan Dame, mother Fytie Martens, of Breuckelen.)^1,2,4 She (1) married Jan Remsen, son of Rem Jansen Vanderbeck and Jannetje Rapalje, on 11 December 1681 at Brooklyn, NY, (DRC) (Jan Remsz to Martje Jans Damen; married in Brooklyn.)^5,6,7,8,9 (Banns on 20 November 1681 at DRC, Flatbush, NY.)^6,9 Martje Damen (2) married James Sympson on 10 September 1697 at Bergen, NJ, (DRC.)^3,10,11,12 (Banns on 15 August 1697.
