     John W Turk was born in 1806.² He married Mary Augusta Livingston, daughter of John W Livingston and Julia Broome, in 1842.^1,3

     Maryken is listed in the NYDC member list of 1686 as "Maria Turck, wife of Abraham Kermer" (member #4, name #5-6.)⁸ Married name: Kermer.

     Paulus Turck Jr. was from N. Yorck acc. to his marriage certificate.¹ He was baptized on 13 July 1664 at New York City (DRC) (sp.      John Turner was born on 13 October 1903. He married Mary Louise Mapes, daughter of Harold Thomas Mapes and Maria Vasquez, on 28 December 1935. John Turner died on 18 May 1960.

     His parents were John A. Turner and Maytie Saunders. John was manager of Triangle Ranch, Moose, WY. They lived in Salt Lake City in winter.

     Minnie Gertrude Turner was born on 28 August 1874.¹ She married Andrew William Hay, son of William Hay and Mariah Stickler, on 1 July 1891 at Arenac County, MI.¹ Minnie Gertrude Turner died on 14 July 1904 at MI.¹

     Peter Turner was born on 14 March 1794 at Putnam, NY.¹ He (1) married Mary Ann Galloway, daughter of James Shildren Galloway and Miriam Archer, on 16 November 1816. Peter Turner (2) married an unknown woman in November 1866. He died on 16 October 1875 at Turner's Village, NY.

     Peter founded a village which served the Erie Railroad and became an influential business center.

     Grietje Turneur was born on 18 August 1751.² She was baptized on 1 September 1751 at Tappan, NY, (DRC) (sp. Theunis Kuyper and Marritye, his wife.)² She married Jacobus Demarest, son of David D Demarest and Cathrina Van Houten.¹ (Banns on 23 March 1771 at Irregular RC, Tappan, NY.)^3,1

     Grietje Turneur and Jacobus had two more daughters:

     Aaron A Turse was born on 29 August 1852 at Werimus, Bergen County, NJ, (now Hillsdale, NJ.)² He married Sarah A Straut, daughter of Abram J Straut and Elizabeth Jane Litchult, on 1 January 1873 at Westwood, Bergen County, NJ.³ Aaron A Turse died on 2 November 1934 at 530 4th Ave, Westwood, NJ.⁴ He was buried on 6 November 1934 in Westwood Cemetery in Westwood.

     Aaron A Turse was a Constable, County Sheriff's Office, Hackensack, Bergen, and a house painter. The 1910 census lists Aaron A Turse and Sarah A at Westwood, NJ, with their son Aaron, Jr.⁵ The 1915 census lists Aaron A Tures and Sarah A, with Aaron A Tures Jr. and pres. his wife Mary A Tures.⁶ The 1920 census lists Aaron A Turse at Westwood, NJ, with his son Aaron, Jr.⁷
     The first Marshall of Westwood Borough, he also served as a volunteer fireman, a member of the Board of Education, and as a member of the Board of Health. In his later years he was a deputy sheriff, and served at the court house in Hackensack. Apparently when young, he also worked as a painter (at the age of 24 according to the 1880 census). The 1880 census has him living in Washington Township.
     He was active in the community and well known locally, and often included in local news. One of the more unusual stories of the times, in October 1885, Westwood was struck by a forceful tornado. It tore up the new school house for which the village had just paid $5,000, crushing it and carrying off all but the floor timbers. Aaron saw the roof of the schoolhouse go, and grabbed two children and Sarah and ran into the yard to cling to a large tree in the yard. The village church was torn from its foundations and lifted 30 feet into the air. Barns were leveled and houses destroyed. The tornado tore a path about 200 feet wide and nearly two miles long.

     Shortly after the official incorporation of the town as the Borough of Westwood on May 8, 1894, Mayor Isaac D. Bogert appointed the first two true law enforcement Officers in the newly formed Borough. Aaron Tuers and Genest Housman were officially appointed as Marshals and tasked primarily with the enforcement of a bicycle ordinance. Their compensation was $2.00 of each $5.00 fine levied against offenders. This system of compensation was certainly not perfect and sometimes required improvisation on behalf of the original Mayor and Council. On one occasion, when two men were found cycling on the sidewalks and did not have money to pay the fines, one of their bicycles was confiscated. The record does not indicated whether the Marshals or the treasury suffered the loss when the Mayor was unable to sell the bicycle for more than $8.00 to cover the two fines a few months later.      His death certificate lists Mary Thorp as maiden name of his mother.

     Aaron A Turse Jr. was born on 2 January 1884 at Westwood, NJ.^2,3 He married Mary A Straut, daughter of Harvey B Straut and Mary L Garven, on 27 May 1912 at Ho-Ho-Kus, Bergen County, NJ.² Aaron A Turse Jr. died on 4 March 1949 at Westwood, Bergen County, NJ.

     The 1910 census listed Aaron A Turse Jr. in Aaron A and Sarah A Straut's household at Westwood, NJ.⁴ The 1915 census listed Aaron A Tures Jr. in Aaron A and Sarah A Turse's household.⁵
     When Aaron registered for the draft, his nearest relative was Mary A. Turse (but it does not name her his wife). He is described as tall and slender with black eyes and black hair.³ Aaron A Turse Jr. was a painter, working for his brother Sandy Turse.³ The 1920 census listed Aaron A Turse Jr. in Aaron A Turse's household at Westwood, NJ.⁶ Name variation: Aaron A Tures Jr.⁵
