     Joris Jansen Rapalje and Catalina Trico emigrated in 1624 from Leyden (on board the 'New Netherlands', they settled in Albany then later moved to Brooklyn (where the US Navy yard is).)7,8 Joris Jansen Rapalje was a silk weaver. Joris settle in Fort Orange (Albany) in 1624 and left in 1626 for lower Manhattan. He opened the first hotel or public inn. They grew food in their own garden. He bought land from the Indians on Long Island and built the family homestead there.9 Name variation: Georges Rapallier.9

His property was worth $3500.1,2,3 The 1870 census lists Jacob B Rapp at 16th Ward at Jersey City, NJ, with his children Elmer, Mary, John E and Grant, George, Delia; Martha Whiting, and two servants. He was a market gardener.1,2,4

     John A Rapp was in 1850 a blacksmith.1,2 The 1850 census lists John A Rapp and Mary at Bergen Twp, Hudson County, NJ, with two children: Andrew (19) and Daniel V.C (14). His personal property was worth $40,000.2
     He bought and sold land quite a few times: between 1815 and 1821, John sold land to Henry Rapp (5-467 or G.2.2640). He bought land from Martinne Winne (5-133) and bought land from Adam Rapp (5-309); between 1821 to 1833 he bought land from Jane Garrabrant (6-318) and 6-732). In 1833, John sold land to Agnus Ross (8-313, G3.483); and bought land from Daniel Van Elief (8-16) and Jane Van Elief (8-31). In 1835-1836 he sold land to Robert Lewis (11-88) sold jointly with Ada, and Adriantje; and in 1837-1839 he sold land to Richard Tise (12-134).1

     Kenneth Ras was born on 16 February 1921 at The Netherlands.1,2 He married Clara Bakker.1 Kenneth Ras died on 24 February 2004 at Hawthorne, Passaic County, NJ.1
