     James moved to Herkimer County about 1786 then to Elmira, Chemung County about 1788 and finally, following Gen. John Swift to Palmyra, Ontario (Wayne) County in 1790. He helped survey the Phelps Gorham tract and bought lot 37 (100 acres), two miles east of Palmyra. He began clearing the land on 27 Apr 1791 and later built a mill dam and saw mill.1 James Galloway Jr. was in 1804 a captain of the Palmyra militia.1 In 1825 he bought 224 acres of land in Michigan for his sons, James and Jerome.1 He made a will on 20 November 1838.1

Dugdale and Searle were reapers of NY City and Galloway was 'well contented and doth give his full consent.1' John's estate was valued at 10 pounds in the NYC tax assessmeny of Feb 1730.1 He was in 1734 a ropemaker.1
