M, b. 27 May 1640
FatherCornelis Volkertsz1,2,3 d. b 1650
MotherMaria Du Trieux1 b. 5 Apr 1617, d. 1670
Arnould Cornelisze was baptized on 27 May 1640 at New York City (DRC) (sponsors: Isaac De Foreest, Teunis Cray, and Jan Cant; no father listed, mother Marie du Trieux). Acc. to Konight an unknown person was his father.1,4,5 He married Gerritje Vermeulen, daughter of Hendrick Gerritse Vermeulen, between 1663 and 1667.6

Family

Children
     One more child:
1. Susannah (m. Johannes Wendell 5 Jun 1708; is sponsor for her siblings' children.)7,8,3
He was an interpreter for the settlers. He appears in the Albany records as early as 1659. On 17 Mar 1663 he buys a house and lot at Beverwyck, possibly in anticipation of his marriage. He also kept a tavern (from 1667.)6 Name variation: Aernout Viely Sr.9,8
It is unclear whether Cornelis Volkertsz is the father of Arnould Cornelisze, or a brother. It is clear that there is a close relationship, as they all appear in a suit against Bennony Arents van Hoak, the second husband of Jacomintje Swart. Pieter Cornelisse Viele is dead, Cornelis Cornelisse Viele enters the complaint (among others), and Aernout Cornelisse Viele and Jacob Meese Vrooman (stepfather of Jacomintie) are made guardians of the child of Pieter and Jacomintie
Since Aernout is also Cornelisse, it seems likely he is a brother, but he is quite a bit older than Pieter and Cornelis.2

BC-Families Wyckoff File has a prominent note: Claes Corneliszen. progenitor of the Wyckoff family, has been erroneously confused with Claes Cornelissen
Meutelaer/Van Schouw. Beware! They are two separate men with similar names!

The BC-Families Cornelison File has the same warning: This Claes Cornelissen Meutelaer/Van Schouw has been erroneously confused with the Claes Corneliszen who was the
progenitor of the Wyckoff family (and of Claes Cornelison Swits. Beware of confusion!

So while Konight has Pietertje as daughter of Claes Wyckoff, BC-Families Van Arsdale File has her as daughter of Claes Corneliszen.
However the Van Arsdale File also suggests that Pietertje's daughter Geertje m. 'her cousin' an unknown person.2,1,3 Name variation: Claes Cornelis Wyckoff.1
