     Peter J Goossens immigrated on 15 March 1912 to New York City on the 'Vaderland,' sailing from Antwerp on 2 Mar 1912; he was going to Hackensack, NJ. His contact in the Netherlands was his mother P.J. Goossens, living at de la Roystraat 29, Schooten. He was going to a friend, Mr. van Blaricum, at 40 Clinton Street, Hackensack.⁵ The 1915 census lists Peter J Goossens and Jacoba at New Barbadoes Township, Bergen County, NJ, and Frieda (1, b. NJ). Peter is 30, b. Aug 1884, Holland, painter, living 3 yrs in US, alien; Jacoba (26, b. Mar 1889, Holland, listed as Jacobus.)⁶
     He registered for the draft in Bergen County in 1918. He is b. 23 Aug 1883 in Amsterdam, still an alien. He lists his wife Jacoba Goossens as dependant. They are living at Linden Ave, Teaneck; he is a painter and paper hanger.³ The 1920 census lists Peter J Goossens and Jacoba at Teaneck, Bergen County, NJ, with three children, all b. NJ: Frieda G (5), Peter J (3y 3m), and Jacoba J (1y 4m). Peter is 36, b. Holland, proprietor general store, imm. 1912, has papers; Jacoba is 30, b. Holland, partner general store, imm. 1912, alien.⁷ The 1930 census lists Peter J Goossens and Jacoba at Teaneck, NJ, with four children, all b. NJ: Freida (15), Peter (13), Jacoba (11) and Virginia (6). Peter was 56, b. Holland, worker, public works; Jacoba was 41, b. Holland, worker, cafeteria.⁴ The 1940 census lists Peter J Goossens and Jacoba at 166 Larch Ave at Teaneck, Bergen County, NJ, with three chiildren, all b. NJ: Jacoba (21, switchboard operator), Virginia (16), and Peter (23, auto mechanic) his daughter-in-law Florence (21, saleslady, lived in Hackensack in 1935), and grandson William (2); and Henry D Oudolf and his son Henry Oudolf Jr.. Peter was 56, b. Holland, painter; Jacoba was 51, b. Holland. They lived at the same place in 1935.² Name variation: Peter Jacobus Goossens.³

     Steven Jansz Coningh de Timmerman (the carpenter) and Maria Goosens aka Lange Maria (Tall Maria) ran a tavern on the road between Fort Orange and Beverwyck. In 1655 the contents of the Tavern was sold at auction. NY), Henry (9, b. NY), Maria (7, b. NY), John (4, b. NJ), Ella (2, b. NY), and Edgar (8m, b. NJ); and Mary Cool (19, b. Ireland) and John Welcher (35, b. Germany, laborer). Isaac D is 44, b. NY, farmer; Eliza is 41, b. NY.³ The 1870 census lists Isaac D Gott and Eliza A at Lodi Township, Bergen County, NJ, with, all surname Gott: Isaac (22, b. NY, works on farm), Mary (24, b. NY), Eliza (21, b. NY), Henry (19, b. NY), Maria (17, b. NY), John (11, b. NJ), Ella (12, b. NY), and Edgar (11, b. NJ). Isaac is 54, b. NY, farmer; Eliza is 51, b. NY.⁶ The 1880 census lists Isaac D Gott and Eliza A at Lodi Township, NJ, with five children: Mary A Gott (32, b. NY), John R Gott (22, b. NY, insane), Edgar Gott (20, b.      William Gott was born in 1842 at New York (7 y in 1850, 18 in 1860, but Find-A-Grave has his birthdate as 13 Dec 1840.)^2,1,3 He married Margaret.⁴ He died on 15 February 1887.³

     The 1870 census lists William Gott at Morrisania, Westchester County, NY, with Margaret Gott (26, b. NY), Ada Gott (5, b. NY), and William (2). The father William is 28, b. NY, a bookkeeper, his parents are listed as being of foreign birth.⁴
     When he lived in Westchester, Wm. O. Gott was registered as a military veteran. He served as a private in the Civil War in the 22nd New Jersey, entering 1 Sep 1861. He is however listed as a gardener; but he is a voter, and can read and write.⁵ He was buried at Maple Grove Park Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ.³
     An Ada Gott is listed aged 5 with William in 1870; with Isaac as granddaughter, aged 15 in 1880, and with Isaac aged 20-60 in 1885. She is not listed in Isaac's probate, as her father is still alive; but in Eliza's probate she is listed as a daughter. An Aida L. Gott married W.L. Stormont/ Stermont on 31 Dec 1891 in Orange, Essex County, NJ, she was 27; she died 16 Jun 1940 in Brooklyn at age 72 (b. 7 Apr 1868), she was buried in LaPorte, PA, her father is William and her mother Margaret (Ackerman); her age does not fil with William's daughter, and why would she be buried in PA?^6,7

     Abigail Ann Gould was born on 23 February 1829 at Willington, CT.¹ She married William Hollis Blakslee on 29 November 1848 at Woonsocket, RI.¹ Abigail Ann Gould died on 26 February 1912 at Hillburn, NY.¹
