(From C.C.D.Burley)
Frederick William worked for Matthew Mead on Landon Hill. He was there, single, in 1855, age 21. He lived in a part of the Matthew Mead house. When he and Cordelia were married, they lived in the same place. He was an excellent carpenter and builder.
Frederick married (2) 24 June 1875 in Queensbury, Adeline Emigh. They moved to Shelving Rock, Fort Ann, Washington Co. on the east side of Lake George where he worked at his carpenter trade. He worked with Frederick E. Duell on the Knapp estate and gave him some beautiful old tools, which in the 1950's were given to the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake.
While F.W. was at Shelving Rock, his daughter Nellie, aged 20 and engaged to be married, worked at a hotel. One day she looked out of a window and, waving at people in boats below lost her balance and fell out of the window. She died of her injuries, but not before she made her brother promise to carry out his plans for his own wedding on her birthday. She is buried in the Jenkins cemetery.
F.W. and his second wife lived at Shelving Rock about 30 years, after which they separated; she going to Bolton, he to his son and daughter-in-law on Gansevoort Rd. in Moreau. She died in 1941.1

Warren and Sybil lived in a log house on Landon Hill for some years after they were married. Twins Joseph and Josephine were born there. Warren later built a clapboard house on the northwest edge of the village of Chestertown. It was said that everybody in town used to drive by on a Sunday afternoon to see and admire the family's beautiful flowers.
Warren Duell was a soldier in the Civil War. After he had served for a time he was taken prisoner and in time released by the Confederates under a Safe Conduct from General Lee, being honoe bound not to retuen to fight until there was a regular exchange of prisoners. This he abided by, but as soon as he could honorably do so, he reenlisted. His son FrederickWilliam, disagreed with him very strongly on his political position and wrote a scathing letter to his father about Abraham Lincol and his 'black Republicans.' This letter was yet another illustration of the way families were divided by the War. It was found in a wall of the house in Chestertown when the house was undergoing renovation in the 1950's. Warren was discharged on 19 June 1863 and again 6 Feb. 1866. Both discharges describe him as being five feet nine inches high, having a light complexion and hazel eyes and brown hair. Occupation - carpenter.[:LIND:]1

There is also an issue with Leanor's death date. Van Camp has the date as 1798, and the place as Newton, NJ.6,7 Married name: Predmore.

The Dulfer contest, which has been before the Orphan's Court for about three months, has reached a conclusion, so far as taking evidence is concerned.
Mrs. Elizabeth Dulfer died in January last, aged 90 years, leaving property valued at $20.000, and her husband J.B.C. Dulfer presented for probate a will dated 25 Dec 1878, by the terms of which he was made sole legatee and executor. Francis Jackson, colored, a cousin of Mrs. Dulfer, filed a caveat against the probate of this document alleging undue influence in procuring the will, mental incapacity, and that the will was not formally executed. During the progress of the trial it was shown that Mrs. Dulfer made a will in 1872, giving $4000 to a half sister, $1000 to a Baptist church in New York City, $2000 to Francis Jackson and the residue of her estate to Mr. Dulfer. A second will, drawn by Justice David van Horn in April 1877, gave everything to Mr. Dulfer, with the proviso that the half sister and Jackson should be cared for by the estate in case they came to want. This will appointed David Van Horn, J.C. Van Horn, and Mr. Dulfer as executors. A third will, drawn by Justice Van Horn on Nov 11, 1878 was similar to the second, except that the name of J.C. Van Horn was omitted. The last will, which is the one under contest, was drawn by Hon. C.H. Voorhis. A great mass of testimony has been piled upon both sides. The Court reserved the decision until the first Tuesday in September. P.W. Stagg and S.R. Demarest, Jr. for caveator; ex-Judge Millard for Proponent (Reprinted from the Republican.)6
