The Salvation Army Rescue Mission Fire on Mill Street happened on 5 Nov 1917, and killed 19 people, outright. It was a three story lodging house. 30 men were trapped, 11 injured and 19 died. Julius was one of the injured.4
Several other accounts were published about Julius. Apparently he was the cook at the mission.5,6
