Cornelius Stagg and Margrietje lived circa 1787 at Acquackanonck, Passaic County, NJ, and in 1791 in Franklin Twp, Bergen County.1 Cornelius Stagg was a private during the Revolutionary War (Stryker). He never applied for a pension.1 Cornelius purchased land in Acquackanonk in 1794 and 1796 that was later conveyed to son, James. The Franklin Twp. land was conveyed to son John in 1797.1

Jan Stagg lived in 1711 between Sicomac and Franklin Lakes.4 He was a mason by trade. Jan with William Dey built the octagonal Dutch Reformed Church of Hackensack (Church on the Green) built in 1696. Jan also built some of the old houses along what is now Polifly Rd. and Terrace Ave in Hasbrouck Heights.4 He made a will on 26 December 1738. It was proved 29 Jan 1738/9. He was John Stagg of Barbadas Neck, Bergen Co. Names sons Johannes (eldest) and Cornailes, who had rec'd their share; sons Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, George; daughter Margaret, wife of Arie Blinkerhoof. Executors: Isaac and George Stagg. Witnesses: John Berry, Gerrat Vanfoos, and John McDowell.13,14 Name variation: John Stagg.15
