William Lovelock immigrated in 1856 and naturalized in 1868.7 He was in the US Navy during the Civil War. In 1880 he worked in a brickyard, in 1905 he was an engineer.1,6,4,3 The 1880 census lists William Lovelock and Mary A at Hackensack, NJ, with six children, all b. in NJ: Annie (12), Lizzie (10), Katie (8), Henrietta (5), Martha (3), and Mary (1). Annie and Lizzie worked in the silkmill.4 The 1885 census lists William Lovelock and Mary Ann at New Barbadoes Township, NJ, with Sarah L. Lovelock (20-60, native born female); six Lovelock children, all native born, all 5-20: Daniel, Susan E., Catherine, Henrietta, Martha, and Mary; Susan Garrison (native born, >60); and Edward and Rose (Henry) Schmultz (both native born, both 20-60. They married 29 Apr 1884 in New Barbadoes). Mary Ann (20-60) was listed as native born male!8,9
He is listed as Wlliam H. Lovelock in the 1890 census of Union Veterans, in Hackensack, NJ. He served from Jan 1682 to Jan 1865. He was #13 (house # 103, family #136). His rank was captain of ?, the vessel was Ram Atlanta (?)2 The 1905 census lists William Lovelock at Hudson Street at Hackensack, NJ, with his daughter Eliza (b. May 1872, NJ.)3
In 1910 and 1920 William Lovelock is listed as father-in-law, and Elizabeth Lovelock as sister-in-law, in the household of William and Martha Thoen in West Hoboken.10,7
