He worked in the Medical Dept. of Valparaiso Univ and was the Director of histology and pathology labs of Chicago College of Medicine and Dental Surgery. In his later years he practiced medicine and radiology in Valparaiso, IN.1

Bergen Families (DeWitt File) does not have parents for Tjerck, nor does it have a Claes, son of Jan DeWitt. Other sources had a Tjerck Claessen as son of Jan DeWitt, but that also seems unlikely, as Tjerck Claessen would be a son of Claes!2,3
     Claes' children listed here cannot be his children, as their estimated dates are almost identical to those of Claes. There seems to be lots of confusion.
