In the Fall of 1892 James ran for assemblyman and served several terms. After leaving the legislature he moved to Rochester and served as supvisor from 1916-1919. In 1919 he was elected Coiunty Treasurer. at Wawarsing, NY.2 He was in 1882 in business with his father dealing in general merchandise, milling, lumber, wood, hoops, etc.2 James was a member of Wawarsing Lodge F & A M, of the IOOF of Accord and K of P.2 James was one of the most prominent citizens of Ulster County.2 Name variation: James Lounsbery.2
