     This must be the Abraham Freeland, listed on page [514]-46 Bergen Co. NJ Pension List who was aged 79 when placed on Roll on 15 Feb 1834. He was a private, receiving $80 per year that started on 4 Mar 1831.2 Abraham's last name is spelled many different ways (Vreeland, Vreland, Fraland and Freeland), all of which are phonetic. Many of his children's births are listed in the records of the Reformed Dutch Records of Pompton Plains, New Jersey. Abraham Vreeland made a will on 10 April 1844 at Passaic County, NJ.5
     
'In the name of God Amen, I Abraham Vreeland of the Township of Pompton,County of Passaic and State of New Jersy being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory for which blessing I do most devoutly thank my God - Do Make and publish this my last will and testament.
I first do give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Jane Vreeland, and all my Estate, real and personal, during her natural life, but would recommend that she should keep four cows, the young horse and one yoke of oxen and sell theremainder of the stock.
2-It is my will after the decease of my wife,Jane Vreeland, that my executors sell my personal property except two choice cows, one horse and one new carpet, which I will and bequeath to my beloved daughter, Mariah Little and also it is my will that she shall have after the decease of my wife the use and proceeds of all my Real Estate to occupy the dwelling house and all other buildings on the premisis so long as she wishes to remain on the premesis or as long as she remains a widow. But if she marries or chooses to leave the premesis, then it is my will that my estate be divided equally amongst those hereinafter mentioned, that is my three sons, Jacob Vreeland, George Vreeland, Henry Vreeland, and David Vreeland my grandson, and also my two daughters, Elizabeth Hyler and Mariah Little. Amelia C. Vreeland acted as executor. (#37657 A-2 P.Pr. 54 P-4 Will 110.)4 According to his nephew, Abe, son of William, Abraham was a one handed mason and contractor who bricked up the grave of Tunis H Vreeland.6

The ages are all about 2 yrs off.5 The 1885 census lists Abraham H Vreeland and Hester A at Pompton, NJ, with their children Abraham, William, Warren, Tressie and Emma.6 Abraham H Vreeland made a will on 22 December 1899 at Passaic County, NJ. Executors were: Andrew W Smith and Ervin B. Hoff, sons-in-law. (#14413 W Will 1, F P.Pr. 44, Passaic Co.)7 Name variation: Abram H Vreeland.3

     The 1910 census lists Abraham H Vreeland and Lizzie at 210 Brook Valley Rd (ED 38) at Pequannock Twp, Morris County, NJ, with their children Harold (11), Ethel (9), Elmer (8), and Floyd (2); they were married 13 yrs; she had 6 children, 4 living; he was stableman for private family.1 The 1915 census lists Abraham H Vreeland and Elizabeth at Pequannock Twp, Morris County, NJ, with their children Harold and Ethel M. He was a teamster. Note that the parents ages more closely fit the other family of Abram H Vreeland, but he is in Boonton in 1910, not Pequannock.2
     Abram H Vreeland married to Elizabeth and ABraham H. Vreeland married to Lizzie seem to be different people, but they each have four children of the same name: Harold, Ethel, Elmer, and Floyd (but ages are not quite the same).
Note that Dorothy Vreeland and Lauretta Vreeland (who are supposed to be their daughters also, acc. to the E.W.Vreeland files) are never listed with the family in the census; two children each had died before 1910: these could be Thomas, Chester and Richard.
This family does not seem to be in the Vreeland Project.3,1,4,5

     Abraham Vreeland Sr. made a will on 10 December 1734 at Essex County, NJ. It was proved 8 Jan 1748. He mentions sons Enoch, Jacob, Johannes, Simeon, Isaac, Abraham, and Hendrick; and daughter Dirckje. Executors: his sons Jacob and Johannes.9,10
     Abraham Sr. was a member of the Acquackanonk Church 1725, but lived in the limits of Newark, just South of the Acquackanonk line. He signed the Remonstrance to the King in 1700.
     His will was dated 10 December 1734 and was witnessed by Jo. Cooper, Jacob Vanwinkle and William Williamse. It was proved 8 Jan 1747/8., probate being granted to Jacob Vreeland and Jehonas (Johannes) Vreeland, as executors. 'Land joining land of Tunis Pier at Passaic River; land bought of sons of John Frannsoy, viz., Hendrick, France, Barat and Abraham Franser on 19 Nov 1733, land formerly belonging to Jacob Van Winkle, Jr. conveyed to me by Simon Van Winkle, 17 Oct 1715.11,12'
