     In 1800 John removed to Sempronius(?) now called Niles, NY. Stephen's children were born in Niles.¹ The 1850 census lists Stephen DeWitt and Isabella at #32 at Niles, Cayuga County, NY, with his children Janette, George, Henry and Moseman. A John (25 yo) lives at #34 with (presumably) his wife Mary and son Dorr, and a 14 jr old Henry DeWitt; living at #35 are Dan (21 yo), Huldah (23 yo), Freeman (16 yo, Truman?) and Mark (19 yo.)⁵ The 1870 census lists Stephen DeWitt and Frances at Niles, Cayuga County, NY, with his son Moseman next door, and his son John next to that.⁶
     Mrs. Stephen DeWitt and Moseman DeWitt, John DeWitt and George DeWitt are all listed as living at lot 19 in Niles. Stephen E DeWitt is listed as living at lot 3.
     On pg. 444 Stephen DeWitt is listed as living on lot 19. Jacob T.C. DeWitt, Cornelius and John DeWitt all came from Sullivan County c. 1798. Jacob settled on lot 2, as did Cornelius (who was a Rev. War soldier.)^7,2
