     Samuel Thompson was a boatman.1 The 1850 census lists Samuel Thompson and Susan at house 307 at Hackensack, Bergen County, NJ, with Mary, Phebe, William and Gracey (resp. 5, 4, 3, 1, all black), as well as a Dinah Thompson (12, attends school). They are next door to William Jackson.1
